Hamada was very patient with our family as we were very jet lagged! Nonetheless we had a fab evening - great sushi followed by a brilliant little cook your own restaurant (mini bbq set in table) and then a very local restaurant. He explained many idiosyncrasies of Japanese culture and was the perfect host to give you a whirling trip of Shibuya. Thank you so much

I hate writing reviews let alone bad ones but given the company want one, here goes...I simply would not call this a food tour.

I have done several food tours in Tokyo and other cities and was expecting 6-10 stops in traditional and/or backstreet locations with a mix of foods gaining an understanding of the backstories of food/people/places.

Maybe I should have done more research but we went to three restaurants literally one after the other where we basically ordered our own meals. The food was good and our guides were lovely, but not overly knowledgeable (or did not impart) about the area or the food etc.

The menus also had prices in them so we could see exactly how much of a premium we were being charged. Combined my wife and I had a maximum of 10,000 Yen ($100 AUD) worth of food (from the menu prices) and had paid 65000 Yen ($650 AUD) for the tour tickets...ouch, very poor value.

It really felt like we could have had a similar and much much cheaper experience by ourselves with a tiny bit of research.

I think there are many better tours you could do.

I had a really good time on this tour. The selection of restaurants was great and I enjoyed chatting with my tour guide Islam about various aspects of Japanese life and culture. I would definitely recommend.

I can recommend this tour to any solo traveler. Sometimes you might be intimidated to go to restaurants by yourself. But on this tour, you get the chance to try famous street food and learn a bit about the night-life in Japan. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the quality of the food itself as I have no comparison, but I personally found it very tasty. Naoto-san and Suzuki-san were both incredibly friendly, had a good sense of humor and guided us professionally through the evening. What I found particularly great were the spontaneous detours to places that are not initially included in the tour. If anyone in the group is particularly interested in something, the tour guides will do everything they can to ensure that you go home happy and with new found knowledge. In our case, it was a short detour to Daiso (Dollar Shop), which some of us had not seen yet.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind. Mr Nato gave each of us a package of Japanese snacks! Viator promoted it as 'all you can eat" but it was not. However we did have plenty of food. Overall would recommend this tour.

Naota was an excellent guide. We had just arrived in Tokyo after a twelve hour flight. The food tour was a perfect way to begin our immersion into the Japanese culture. The food options were excellent and Naoto enhanced the experience with his observations. Highly recommend.

Hamada was a great leader and I’m grateful for his guidance. He was communicative, on-time, positive/upbeat, friendly, informative, and a pleasure to spend time with. I not only ate some delicious food but learned a lot about the culture of eating and living in Japan, which he provides from a unique perspective. The route was organized, but he also found time and space to let me freestyle a bit with a quick errand I needed done. Hamada left me with a very generous to-go gift that was very unexpected. Shibuya will now have a special place in my memory book, and it wouldn’t have happened without this tour and Hamada. Definitely recommend to others visiting this beautiful country.
