Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera helped to define Mexican modernism while engaged in a tumultuous romance. On this tour we’ll get a glimpse into the life of Mexican artists.
Our visit will take us to the Frida Kahlo Museum, or Casa Azul, her former abode and where many of her self-portraits were created. We will get a sense of how she once lived and worked. We’ll engage directly with her history as we surround ourselves by her artwork, her clothing, her photos, and even the prosthetics, and corsets she wore as a result of childhood polio and a horrifying train accident in 1925.
We’ll then shift our conversation to focus more on Diego as we jump in a taxi to reach our final stop: the Museo Estudio Diego Rivera, or the dual homes and studios of the artists. Our expert will enliven the modern architectural space, the objects and artwork within the stories of Diego’s interest in native Mexican cultures as well as the couple’s love and the impact that they had.

Neene was so very knowledgeable and helpful. She went out of her way to make us comfortable and ensured that we had a wonderful experience. We knew so little about Freda and Diego and we could not have asked for a better guide. Our only regret is that we forgot to tip her. Is there anyway we can do that now?

Our guide, Neene, was excellent! She was very knowledge about the Kahlo house and studio Museum ("the blue house") and the lives of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Neene also was very polite and spoke excellent English. I recommend her to anyone planning to do the Kahlo Museum and Studio tour.

We love our tour guide through the Museo Freida Kahlo. Neeve was bilingual and very knowledgeable. We felt lucky to have her as our guide.

We enjoyed a very memorable afternoon with Ruben, City Art Tours Mexico tour guide and art history graduate student. His extensive knowledge of Mexican and world art history added considerable value to the tour experience. He provided the context we needed to fully appreciate the Frida Kahlo museum and Diego Rivera studio. Tour services included tickets to both museums and also Uber transportation between museums. During the transit, Ruben discussed Mexico City, from its early origins to the present day. We highly recommend this tour company and this tour guide!

Ciudadella was a wonderful guide - very enthusiastic about Diego & Frida.
It was a very interesting tour of the houses/studios of both artists.
Also recommended for anyone who did not get tickets to the Kalho museum.

This tour was a total waste of time. The time was changed in us 3 times. The tour was supposed to be 3-3 1/2 hours the Diego studio tour lasted less than 30 minutes and we were charged for an entry fee but it is FREE on Sundays ( the day we went). Next we were taken to Casa Azul and got there at 3:50 and our entry tickets were for 4:45. So we were expected to wait 55 minutes, this was considered part of the tour time.
