The longest running surf school in Lahaina, Goofy Foot was established on Maui in April, 1994 by the Owner/Instructor Tim Sherer to perpetuate his relationship with Mother Ocean and to teach the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing. We are dedicated to providing professional surfing lessons to all levels of aspiring students in the spirit of fun and learning. We are committed to facilitating the highest level of experience for our guests with a focus on teaching safety, ocean awareness and surfing fundamentals. Students are guaranteed to standup and ride at least one wave, and even more are given a smart approach to learning to surf that is based on technique and fundamentals that they can use to accelerate learning on their own.

Our kids had a great time learning to surf with Fábio and his team. They were all so patient and attentive to our kids, making sure everyone got up on their board. They had a blast and I would highly recommend surfing with Goofy Foot!!

Took a surf lesson 4/23/24 with Goofy Foot and got up right away. I had a blast. Mario explained how to surf and how to be safe. He was out there with me the entire time, coaching me and being a nice person, super encouraging .
I was lucky in that my group lesson was only me and no extra cost. It was fun and a new experience.
Goofy foot surf school used to be housed in Lahaina and is now gonel. Please consider them when in Maui. They still exist and are the best. Mahalo to Fabio the owner and my Couch, Mario!

The waves were perfect for learning. The staff was very attentive and provided valuable feedback. The amount of time was appropriate. More than that would have been tiring

Goofy Foot is the best! Fabio and his team of surf experts were beyond professional, encouraging and most importantly FUN!!! Our daughter was up on her board within the first half hour of the lesson. I highly recommend Goofy Foot! Don’t look any further. They truly are the best!

We gave our 13 year old daughter her first surf lesson while vacationing in Maui. Goofy Feet did not disappoint. Two days before her lesson, Fabio called to move the lesson up 2 days and change locations due to better surf conditions. He was thinking ahead and I liked that. The surf lesson was perfect. It was well organized and you could clearly see how experienced Fabio and his crew were. They were great with kids. Protective and encouraging. I highly recommend Goofy Feet. They were awesome.

This is our second time using Goofy foot for surfing lessons. They are the best surfing lesson company in Maui.
We first tried them about eight years ago, for our kids, and came back this year to use them again to support local business. We were not disappointed.
Instructors were patient and made a huge difference in terms of getting the kids up on the boards and having a great morning
Cannot recommend these guys high enough.

This experience was the highlight of our trip! Mario was our instructor and he was so patient and knowledgeable. Amazing, all around. If you're trying to choose an activity that gets you in the ocean, teaches you something cool, and allows you to meet some cool people while enjoying the sunshine, DO THIS!!!

This was the highlight of our trip! The manager, the instructor... both wonderful! I was honestly terrified of surfing but wanted to overcome my fears and I definitely did!! Such a great time, worth every penny.
