Spend the morning at Hadrian’s Villa, discovering the emperor’s amazing country residence and its interesting architectural features. You will see an artificial pool and grotto, the Canopus and Serapeum, and many other Greek and Egyptian influences which make this place so unique.
You will then see the town of Tivoli, where you will have a break while you enjoy lunch.
In the afternoon you will discover the Villa d’Este, perched on the cliff-side with sweeping views across the valley. You will also walk through the estate’s beautiful formal gardens, all with an official guide to accompany you and show you everything you need to see.

This trip was very interesting and there was a lot to see. I had the impression it was a half day but , with lunch included, it was a full day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a rye sense of humor. I think this made a few people uncomfortable in the beginning but everyone warmed up once we got used to the guide.
One thing I would have like would have been to have the lunch on a patio, rather than inside a restaurant. The service was okay but slow. Our group was large and having more than two people would have made the process much more timely. Some of us were left to finish our meals while others had already left. Portion sizes were also very different from one person to another. I literally had three small pieces of lettuce with tomato on a side plate while others had full side plates of salad.

This was a nice change of pace from relentlessly walking Rome, with a nice bus trip out to Tivoli. The tour either accidently or kindly upgraded us free of charge from the basic tour to the tour with lunch included and it being Italy the local restaurant was able to offer us pretty much the same meal gluten free as it offered everyone else.
The ruins of Hadrian's villa were breathtaking, but the star of the show was the Este's villa will all the fountains. Our guide lined up everything such that we were there to hear the fountain play music at 2:30pm, which is entirely done through gravity and water pumping designed hundreds of years ago (don't expect a recent pop song).

Tour operator did not pick up despite waiting at the designated pick up location 15 minutes early. I had read in the reviews that the pick up was sometimes late, so when I called the tour operator, the lady on the phone said that the bus had already left with 30 people and said that it was impossible that I could have been there on time and accused me of not calling earlier than the meeting time. There was definitely not 30 people waiting around. And why didn’t they conduct a check to see if everyone was on board? Lady on the phone was not apologetic at all and even hung up on me. This is not how you run a tour company. Learn to improve on your professionalism.

Our tour operator was very knowledgeable and detailed in his history of the town and the garden area.
I highly recommend this tour.

The whole day was memorable and something Iwe would not have done on our own. It was great to hear Giuseppe’s knowledge on both places.
We had lunch and thread also handy and delicious.

I have been to Rome, now 4 times, and I was looking for something that I had not done. I think I picked well with this tour. The villas and Tivoli was very interesting. Yes there is a lot of walking so plan accordingly and yes there are stairs. But the history was so interesting the time and walking went by really fast. The lunch was great we had a little problem with whether wine was included or not (it is NOT) but overall if you are looking for something different this should fit the bill. Totally would recommend.

Guide was very good. Felt a little rushed at times. Group size was larger than the advertised 30 people maximum. Older bus, which could use new shock absorbers but at least the air conditioning worked.
