What a humbling experience to visit the Kibera Slums with Ismael. Ismael grew up in the slums and lives here with his wife and daughter. Thank you for showing us your home and the incredible work you are doing with the school and all the projects you are working on. Your friends and family were generous and kind with their time meeting us and we can highly recommend this tour.

It was a very good experience in my life. I think it's very rare to have an experience like this. I'm really glad I took this tour.
100% recommended. I was a woman participating alone, and at first I was worried about what would happen if it was dangerous, but the people of Kibera were very cheerful, kind, and safe. Children are so cute and they never begged for food money or something.
What I thought was most necessary was the need to improve the garbage and sewage environment. Hopefully they can get better environment.

This was our second tour with Kevin. The first one was so moving and eye opening that we have kept in contact with Kevin for the last two years and came back as soon as we could. Kevin is an amazing tour guide and a great force for good within Kibera. Some of my favorite parts were meeting Kevin’s beautiful family and father and visiting one of the wonderful schools within Kibera.

We were a group of 4 adults and 4 kids, and joined Kevin and his brother Ishmael on a tour in June 2024. This tour far exceeded our expectations, and we were impressed with their knowledge of the history of Kibera and all of the community projects they are currently leading. We especially enjoyed visiting a school and visiting Kevin’s parent’s home. Kevin’s Mom makes the best tea in Kenya! If you are in Nairobi, don’t miss this tour.

If you’re visiting Nairobi, this is the #1 thing you need to do. Ismael, Kevin’s brother, was so hospitable my entire visit, taking me to an orphanage, school, his home, his parent’s home, a community empowerment bag-making company and a bone factory. But most of all walking through Kibera was the most moving experience. You truly realize how fortunate we are. Traveling as a single woman, I never felt unsafe. The entire time I was with Ismael, who you can tell he and Kevin are respected members of the community. 10/10 I hope to return one day. Highly recommend.

Logistics: wear close-toed shoes that you don’t mind becoming incredibly dirty. Anyone who struggles to walk on uneven surfaces should not book: the walk is precarious at moments walking through the slum, especially if it’s rained recently.
