Wow, what an awesome experience! We had Ceasar and Sergio as our guides for our group of 9. Half the group stayed at the lagoon, while the other half summited El Campanario (based on your preference). We ate dinner at a lovely little cabaña in La Marquesa where I ate until I couldn't eat anymore. 110% would take this tour again! It's been my most favorite experience so far in Mexico City.
For those wondering how hard this hike was - I don't hike, but I do exercise every day and consider myself to be at an above-average fitness level for a 30-year-old. I had already spent 4 days in Mexico City to acclimate to the altitude, and I did not get altitude sickness at Nevado de Toluca (which is double the altitude of Mexico City). But even though I didn't get altitude sickness, I still struggled to reach the summit of El Campanario (I ended up getting double thigh cramps during the hike!). However, our guide Sergio made sure we took it slowly and took enough breaks, and in the end, we all made it! Make sure to eat a good breakfast and hydrate before the hike!

Hiking Nevado de Toluca was one of the main reasons for my trip to Mexico city. I signed up for an all day trip to do a long, high elevation, technical hike. It is over 15,000 feet elevation at the top. I understand things happen that are out of the tour operators control, like weather and injuries. However on my trip, there was only one other guest besides myself. They had very little to no experience hiking, showed up in jeans that did not fit properly and a cotton t shirt. We were provided a list of appropriate hiking gear to wear and bring, and they did not take that advice into account. Within 2 minutes of leaving the car park the other guest already needed a break, and was drenched in sweat due to the wrong type of clothes for a hike like this. This is an all day, several hour hike we signed up for, please keep that in mind. They also were not physically abled to do the hike, regardless if they had the most expensive, best, top of the line hiking gear money could buy. If you want to take people who are physically unable to do the hike, that is fine, but make them get their own guide so that they can go at their own pace. To be penalized and have to accommodate someone who in less than 2 minutes, it was painfully obvious had no business even attempting this hike is completely unacceptable. Other tours I have done have no problem telling the person who is incapable “sorry but you are not able to do this activity, you are not physically able to”. However this company expects me to accommodate someone who has no business even attempting a hike such as this. We did approximately 4 hours of “hiking” total due to the fact that the other guest could not physically do the hike. I do not know exactly how far we made it, but not that far and only the very easy parts. I had no patience and was bored out of my mind due to the other guest stopping roughly every 20 feet completely out of breath and slumped over. I do not hold the other guest accountable due to their poor self awareness of their terrible physical shape, I hold the tour company responsible. I feel this was just a money grab by this company. I would 100% do this hike again to complete the hike I signed up and paid for, but with a different company. However, I am unable to do so because I simply do not have the time. It is completely unacceptable to expect someone who signed up for a challenging, all day, high elevation, technical hike to not be able to do it because of another guests complete lack of physical ability. Shame on this company, they do not care about customer satisfaction, all they care about is money. Awful company, please avoid. They did not provide the service I paid for and they do not care. I am sure they will contest this review just so they can trick more people into signing up with them to get their money. They do not care about customer satisfaction at all, very greedy and unethical operation. You have been warned.

I just finished my tour to the summit of Nevado de Toluca, and even though I was the only one on the trip, the tour still went ahead, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
Cesar, my guide, was simply amazing, friendly and entertaining. He was always making sure I was okay, especially since I hadn’t had time to properly acclimatize before the tour. Despite this, he encouraged me to go as far as I could, ensuring I wasn’t pushing myself too hard. Thanks to his support, we made it to the top. Not to forget that he’s an incredible photographer. The day was absolutely incredible, with a clear sky and breathtaking views.
To top it off, we ended the day with delicious tacos in a small family kitchen. Arnulfo, the coordinator, was also great, always available on WhatsApp to answer any questions I had.
Overall, it was a better-than-expected experience. Highly recommended!

Very good experience. The guide César was very attentive and responsible with the entire group. I suggest that you put the difficulty of the hike in your tour description. Several of the people arrived and had very little information about what it would be like. Even one of the participants was undecided the entire way whether to do the route until almost reaching the top (which is why some of us separated the tour) and she did not want to continue because she is afraid of heights. A short questionnaire for those interested could help decide if they are ready and that only people with the physical capacity can try it. Apart from that the experience was very pleasant.
