1. Goreme Panorama

2. Uchisar Castle
UCHISAR is a troglodyte village situated 4 km east of Göreme. It is famous for the huge rock formation once used as a fortification. This extraordinary rock is the highest peak in the region and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the whole of Cappadocia with Mt. Erciyes in the distance.Most rooms in the castle are connected to each other with stairs, tunnels and passages. At the entrances of many rooms, there are millstone doors, just like the ones in the underground settlements, used to control access to these places. Due to erosion it is unfortunately not possible to reach all the rooms. Most of the rooms, located on the north side of the castle are still in use as pigeon houses (dovecotes) today. Farmers used these pigeon houses to collect the droppings of pigeons which is an excellent natural fertilizer for the orchards and vineyards
3. Goreme Open-Air Museum
The Goreme Open Air Museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. It is a complex of rock-cut churches, chapels, monasteries, and other religious buildings that date back to the 10th, 11th, and 12th centuries. 9. Kaymakli Underground City
Kaymakli Underground City is an ancient subterranean city located in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. It is one of the largest and best-preserved underground cities in the region and dates back to the Hittite period around 2000 BC. The city was carved into the soft volcanic rock and extends over eight levels, with a depth of up to 85 meters. It was used as a place of refuge by the local people during times of conflict and invasion, providing shelter and protection from the enemy. The city has many unique features, including ventilation shafts, kitchens, stables, storage rooms, and even a church. The ventilation shafts were used to provide fresh air to the underground city, and the kitchens and storage rooms were used to store food and supplies.
10. Ihlara Valley
The valley was probably first inhabited in the 4th century AD, initially by hermits and priests as a place of solitude; but the natural defences of the gorge attracted new converts to Christianity, some fleeing persecution by the Romans.
11. Belisirma
Belisirma is a gifted village thanks to its location. The landscape is more forgiving around Belisirma. As a result, Cappadocians built the village from the top to the bottom of the Ihlara Valley. That creates a scene full of cute little stone houses scattered to the slopes of Ihlara Valley. Even if the houses look very tiny from a distance, each house reaches a big cave system in thunder ground carved into the natural volcanic tuff. The houses are reaching the bottom of the valley where you can find many restaurants established right by the water.
12. Selime Monastery
Selime monastery is the biggest religious building in Cappadocia with a cathedral-size church. Inside the cathedral there are two rows of rock columns. These columns divide the cathedral into three sections. The size of the church is astonishing. The columns and arches of the church, cut directly from the tuff within the Selime monastery, still bear the tell-tale markings of various generations that once occupied it. Rudimentary icons from the early days can be seen more clearly, but detailed frescoes, painted later, are barely visible under the years of soot that covers the surfaces from when the Turks used the room for cooking.
13. Fairy Chimneys
Fairy chimneys are unique rock formations that are found in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. They are tall and slender columns of volcanic tuff, topped with a larger rock that protects the column from erosion. Fairy chimneys were formed over millions of years through a process of erosion and volcanic activity. They are found in various shapes and sizes, some reaching up to 40 meters tall, and have been a popular tourist attraction in the region for centuries. We did a two day green and red tour with Mehmet as our guide and Ibrahim as our driver. Mehmet was a knowledgeable and flexible guide who accommodated our group of four, which included ages ranging from 5 to 68. Ibrahim was always ready for us and on time. We really enjoyed seeing the sights in the area and felt that the tour was paced well. We were glad we did the green tour the first day (on Mehmet’s recommendation) as that one involved more driving and hiking and was generally more tiring. I’d highly recommend this tour.

Toros gave us a wonderful private tour of Cappadocia over two days covering the sites in the red and green tour. His expert commentary and helpful disposition made it a tour to remember. Durmuș (our driver) was always on hand to deliver us to the next site and with his steady driving we always felt safe.

I recently took the PRIVATE RED & GREEN TOUR in Cappadocia, and unfortunately, it left a very bad taste. Initially, the rates showed as £17-£19 when booking, but as soon as I added the headcount, the price shot up to £150 per person. Despite this steep increase, I went ahead with the booking based on the reviews. I now understand how they obtain these reviews by having the guide ask for feedback right in front of them.

On Day 1, our guide, Mr. Eko, took us to the open-air museum. He spent just 10 minutes explaining what was inside and then abandoned us to explore on our own. Inside, we saw other tour guides with their groups, providing detailed explanations about the history and beauty of the place. This left us feeling quite disappointed.

Later in the day, Mr. Eko postponed two of the activities to the next day, citing harsh weather conditions. We agreed, thinking it was a reasonable suggestion and trusted him. He took us to the fairy chimneys and while we were at the counter, we heard a family say that the place wasn't worth the entry fee. Hence, we decided not to go in and take pics from a distance. On our way back he further proposed skipping a particular location in the next day's itinerary as well due to the heat and distance, suggesting three other 'more interesting' places instead.

However, the next day, a different guide arrived. He took us back to the place where we did not want to go - the fairy chimney, almost forcing us to buy tickets. We gave in. But as expected it was just as good as we saw from a distance and not worth all the money we paid. After visiting a few spots, he abruptly ended the tour just four hours into the supposed 8-10-hour package, claiming we had covered all the places. When I challenged him, he said that three of the spots were en route to the cancelled location from yesterday, and he was unaware that his colleague had not taken us to the fourth spot. We were shocked to hear this.

This whole experience left us feeling scammed, especially when the new guide also asked for a positive review. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to their manager, he brushed it off as a "miscommunication" and offered to "take care of us" on our next visit to Cappadocia. I requested a partial refund, but he chuckled and said it was impossible.

Paying over £350 for such an experience is unacceptable. I will be contacting customer care to demand stringent action against such deceptive practices to protect other travelers from being scammed. This was one of the most disappointing tours I have ever taken, and I strongly advise others to be cautious.
