Our guide, Sarafina, gave us a wonderful, fact filled tour of historic Jewish Montreal. She was engaging, very well informed, and a pleasure to be with for our 2 hour visit.

The tour covers an interesting and little-known history. The buildings highlighted on the tour are supplemented with photos.

We did a walking tour of Jewish Montreal and it was a wonderful way to learn and to meet other people interested in the topics. Our guide Claire was excellent, and somehow made it all feel like a walking party! Highly recommend!

It was a good tour. Not the most interesting or historical. Would have preferred more info on dates and major events. But sights were interesting. Guide was knowledgeable. If you are looking for an interesting tour about Jews in Montreal - this one works. Wasn’t that expensive, so worth it.

Hannah was very knowledgeable and had great knowledge of the area history and subject matter. We learned a ton of great facts on our walk, and visited a number of interesting sites that we would like to come back to. It was an incredibly useful addition to our time in the area and it is highly recommended.

We had a great time on this walking tour conducted by a very enthusiastic university student. She had great material with her, showed us pictures of decades ago and thoroughly explained the evolution Jewish society in Montreal. Along the way we strolled through pretty neighborhoods of restored houses.

Hanna was knowledgeable, organized and full of entertaining stories. The photos and text in the binder were an excellent source of material that she shared enthusiastically and reflected the consistency that the museum tour Director expects of the staff. She also showed great flexibility in adjusting to a route to accommodate the crowds on St. Lawrence. Thank you Hannah for a delightful experience!
PS we’ve done most of their other walking tours and they’ve all been of excellent quality, the only one of them will “fill you up“ on a literal level, instead of on a spiritual and intellectual level: the Beyond the Bagel food tour covers both culture, history and offers delicious nibbles over 3+ hours that leave you not hungry for supper after it is over!

We experienced this tour with our guide Hannah on September 18th. The tour is very well researched, informative, and well paced. Hannah had many interesting anecdotes and was able to answer all of our questions. We had great weather and really enjoyed exploring this part of Montreal’s Jewish history through this engaging tour.

The guide was well prepared and knowledgeable. The subject matter was very interesting, a history of Jewish people in Montreal including waves of immigration, living in Montreal, cultural inclusion and separation in Catholic and Protestant divided Montreal.

Our very well informed tour guide who was a postgraduate history major from McGill took us on a 2 hour tour from the Jewish Museum. She covered the history of the community; waves of immigration; key buildings and individuals. An excellent way to spend a couple of hours.
