The park is the realization of the dream of Jaime Duque, who wanted to give the Colombians an important cultural and recreational center, which in turn would generate resources to support the disadvantaged of society. The Jaime Duque Park opened to the public on February 27 1983. Located in the town of Tocancipá at kilometer 34 of the North Highway, it's only 30 minutes from the city of Bogotá.

We had visited Jaime Duque Park approximately 10 years ago, and we were amazed by all of the additions and improvements to the zoo sections that have been made since then. Given my daughter’s educational and career interest in primates, birds and other wildlife, we could have spent the entire day just in that portion of the park. If you plan to visit, do not miss it! We were also glad to see the efforts towards conservation and sustainability. (But the other attractions were enjoyable, too! And if you have small children, they will have lots to do in the amusement park section). Our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable about the historical bases for the existence of the Park and its attractions, patient and accommodating to our needs, and had a great sense of humor. We would highly recommend him!

It's just wonderful, big park with many activities to do, and also a big zoo, where you can see many animals, feed them, go with time to enjoy all the activities.
