Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the first and only ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket where elephants roam around, bathe and sozialize freely across 30 acres of lush, tropical land bordering the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in North East Phuket. We buy all rescued elephants to ensure that Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is their final home, and we offer professional veterinary care for old and injured elephants. By visiting us, you are supporting a sustainable, ethical and compassionate approach to elephant tourism where elephants have the freedom to live naturally. National Geographic, Lonely Planet and The Guardian have all endorsed our ethical approach.

We spent a wonderful afternoon at the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. We were picked up at our hotel and transported to the PES in a nice clean air conditioned van. Once there, we watched an eye opening video about the common life of the Thai Elephant and the abuses that they endure and how they came to be rescued by the PES and rehabilitated to live out the rest their lives at the sanctuary. We met many of the elephants and heard what they had been through. We were given rubber boots to walk through the sanctuary. At the end we were able to feed two of the elephants. Lastly, we were served a nice lunch. I highly recommend this ethical sanctuary where there is no bathing with or performing of the elephants.

An absolutely amazing place full of caring humans. So impressed with how these beautiful elephants are taken care of and respected. Our guide, I C, was very knowledgeable and sweet. Would highly recommend visiting this sanctuary and supporting their efforts.

I was happy to find a sanctuary that allowed a close encounter with the elephants but was also ethical in their treatment of the elephants. Everyone working at the sanctuary was kind and helpful, and the tour was awesome. The elephants eat a lot, so by setting some food in front of them, we were able to watch them eat up close for periods of time. Feeding the elephants was a pretty cool experience. I learned a lot from our guide and appreciated the wellies and umbrella they provided on our rainy day. The vegetarian meal was delicious (my husband, a non-vegetarian, thought so as well). I highly recommend visiting Phuket Elephant Sanctuary!

We have been to Phuket elephant sanctuary a few times and came back again because we love to see the elephants in their natural habitat and also support the cause for the elephant sanctuary to rescue more elephants. This time we had my 83 year old mother in law with us and when I enquired if it would be possible to split between the canopy walk and the afternoon with the elephants, the team at PES said they would organise a golf buggy that would be able to stay with the group for the majority of the walk. Absolutely over and above and an amazing experience. Would highly recommend the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary and support ethical animal tourism.

Way beyond my expectations. This was so well organized, informative, caring and totally professional. The guides provided detailed information on each elephant and allowed us to get very close to each one. The food and drink provided to us was abundant and delicious. We watched the elephants bathe and were thrilled to feed them. An incredible organization that deserves support. A must do experience

We were looking for an ethical elephant experience and we found one! The elephants are free-range on 30 acres of land, each one has its own caretaker that follows it around 24/7 to make sure it is happy, healthy, and fed, and the guides make sure to inform the tourists about elephant safety and welfare and enforce the sanctuary’s rules so that the humans and elephants are safe and happy. At the end of the tour we got to feed the elephants fruit! Tour was followed up with a delicious early dinner. Would highly recommend. The tour includes rain boots, water bottle, and umbrella.
