This full-day tour goes from Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, to the beautiful and characteristic town of Taormina in the afternoon. In the first part of the excursion, submerge in nature and visit old craters and lava flow caves, enjoy breathtaking views, and taste the typical local products. In the afternoon, before visiting Taormina, you will stop and see the beautiful "Isola Bella" from above.

Our tour guide, Francesco, was great! He picked up our party of 5 at our rented apartment in Catania and drove us to Mt Etna for a day of exploration. He spoke the whole time about things we were seeing along the way, and once we arrived to the mountain, he explained our options (hiking, taking the gondola to the top, etc). We chose to hike at basecamp, which proved to be the perfect choice. He stayed with us and continued to narrate the area and was very knowledgeable.
After lunch, we headed toward Taormina, stopping along the way at a honey and wine tasting location. (This I could have skipped).
The afternoon in Taormina was just long enough to enjoy the little town. Beautiful views from the ancient theater and shopping made for a nice end of the trip.
Francesco was a safe driver and I felt very comfortable riding in his van.
I was very glad we had a driver. I can't imagine having to navigate these roads and be able to enjoy the day without one.

It was a great trip, but if I had to choose this trip again, and had the time, I would have split it into two separate trips, one day to Etna and one day to Taormina.
We only had 2 hours in Taormina, and had not eaten since breakfast, so had to get some food from a restaurant and then we only had one hour left to see Taormina.

Mt. Etna itself was a little disappointing. It was interesting to see, but the tram ticket to the top area was quite expensive. It was supposed to include a guide to tell us about what we were seeing etc. The group we were put into was so large that we didn’t hear a thing. So the “guided tour” was not what was expected.
Taormina was quite nice but we didn’t have enough time there. It only ended up being 2 hours which meant we didn’t have time for a nice meal because we had to hurry to see what we would like to see.

È stata un'escursione indimenticabile! Mamma Etna ci ha affascinati tantissimo con i suoi colori, la sua vegetazione, i suoi profumi, l'immensità... Un ambiente meraviglioso, come meravigliosa è stata la nostra guida, Florence, molto simpatica, cordiale, disponibile e soprattutto preparata. Un'esperienza consigliatissima!
Anche Taormina merita, veramente molto carina.

This trip was the best tour ever. Claudio was an excellent guide. He explained everything about Mt Etna. Now I understand more about volcanos. The wine tasting was also excellent 👌 Taromina was beautiful and we enjoyed our free time walking around the seaside town. It was a memorable day. Grazie

Our guide was First Class but we were disappointed with the price of the ticket for the Cable Car this should have been told to us by the guide before we booked it

Our guide Carmelo was the best. He was very knowledgeable about Mt Etna and made suggestions to ensure we experienced the mountain fully. After Etna Carmelo took us to a beautiful old winery for lunch which we all thoroughly enjoyed (maybe a little too much because we could have stayed there all afternoon. Next we wandered around the lovely town of Taormina before being taken back to our hotel. I’d thoroughly recommend this trip, it was excellent!

The trip was fantastic. The tour guide Alessandro was very knowledgeable, accommodating and pleasant. He made the experience even more interesting. The hike up was very challenging but totally worth the trek.

The mountain, food and expertise of the tour guide were phenomenal. Claudio Trovato, our guide, made this day unforgettable with his knowledge, charm and going through extra mile to engage the group and make us feel how special and unique this experience truly was. Claudio made this much more than a long, hot day in a van. He brought us together as a group and captured our imaginations with the beauty, history and culture surrounding Etna, Catania and beyond. I rarely go on these organized tours, preferring to find my own way and experiences. But, Claudio opened doors to new knowledge and an unforgettable experience. All tour guides should take this kind of authentic pride and interest. It makes the experience so much richer for the visitor.
