On this 5-hour food tour in the unexplored district of Azcapotzalco, we will experience the wild range that defines dining in Mexico City – from sophisticated huevos at a destination restaurant, to iconic street tacos – on a journey through time and space framed by monumental and hidden reminders of this city’s layered history.

We loved our tour guide but something did not sit well with our stomachs from the food we ate. We had already been in Mexico City for almost a week without any issues so we thought we could do this. This was our first time ever doing a food tour so maybe we ate too much too fast but it’s been a couple days and our stomachs are still not fully recovered. The actual walking tour was really cool, that’s why I can’t give a lower ranking. We learned a lot and saw amazing things, but sensitive stomachs beware. Take small bites and small sips of everything just in case you have sensitivities you don’t know you had. There are a lot of bathroom stops along the way if needed. Think closely about what day you put this tour in your itinerary.

Excellent in all respects. Liz is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and relatable guide. The food stops were all ones we wound never have found on our own, each one thoughtfully chosen to reflect an aspect of contemporary Mexican culture.

Our tour guide Liz was amazing. Knowledgeable & friendly, she kept us entertained and fully fed! It was a delight to discover an area that wasn't overrun with tourists. History, culture, art, and amazing food and drink were all covered on this walk. 100% would take a tour again with Culinary Backstreets and Liz!
