I’m a fan of scheduled experiences in a foreign country because things are planned and there’s less chance of trouble.

My tour initially didn’t include breakfast or drinks, so I opted to add those, for USD$30, when I got to check-in. I was promised unlimited soft drinks, beer, and water, plus the breakfast. That breakfast was a breakfast/granola bar, a juice box, a ham and (American?!) cheese sandwich on white bread, and a banana. Fair enough. As for unlimited drinks, they were kept in a different van and were only available at the end of a stop...so 2x. I had 4oz of Pepsi and a Squirt soda at lunch. I was disappointed to pay $30 for what seemed like $10 of stuff.

The other thing I took a “star” away for was we stopped at a jewelry factory and my internal “scam alert” went off. Read it about it elsewhere: “Matis de morelos s.a. de.c.v.” Our entire group skipped that part and went to the tequila factory next door to sample those. That jewelry/tequila factories stop wasn’t part of the scheduled/original tour and added an unnecessary hour to the tour.

My tour guide, Raymond, was excellent. He knew his stuff and has been in the biz for 25 years. I’d go on another tour with him because he really cares.

The driver drove like he stole the van (passing up to three cars at a time while driving on the opposite side of the road), even on the bumpy secondary roads off the main highway. There wasn’t an incident, but even sitting between stops was an adventure.

Recommendation: just buy the basic package, bring your own water, and skip the factory “tours”...you’ll enjoy it!

Our tour guide was Saúl and he was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. I’m 7 months pregnant and had my 3-year-old with me, aside from assisting other travelers with their incessant questions, he helped me with my son and the stroller. The tour was LONG overall and not much time is spent at each location- not even an hour. Most of the time you’re on the bus. My favorite part of the experience was the cenote, but make sure you wear biodegradable big spray because they are me alive! Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Alberto did well keeping a large group moving in a short amount of time. Crammed a lot in a short amount of time.
