We had a great time. Our Captain fully prepared us for what to expect. He said the ride out would be a 'Hawaiian Rollercoaster' and the ocean delivered. The Captain was very skilled and experienced. He made it a great time, a safe time, and a memorable time! Thank you, Captain Cole.

Incredible tour, the guides were amazing. Holo Holos boat was clearly the best of all the tour boats and made the roughish water not bad at all. Don’t let the bad reviews scare you off, the water is not that rough and it’s only 30% or less of the trip where you go fast. Summer is especially calm.

Unfortunately we had to cancel due to my husband hurting his back that morning. I understand that the trip was not refundable, but really? For an injury? (He actually hurt it on a return boat trip after a scuba dive. The water was that rough.). We received a text message that they hoped he’d feel better soon. I’m surprised Viator would do business with a vendor like this. We have used your company numerous times and this is our first disappointment. I would understand if we had booked a private tour that we cancelled, but this was hardly the case. They made 480.00 off us and all the time and effort they put out for us was “hope your back feels better”. They lost nothing but we did. Just surprised that’s all, that you deal with vendors such as this.

So much fun. I highly recommend to sit in the back if you don’t want to get soaked. The captain and crew were so attentive. Only about 4 people got sick and the crew was amazing and was right there to aid in their sickness. The drinks were tasty, food was amazing. However eating while boating was harder than it looks.., lettuce flying. I highly recommend you take your sea sick pills prior just to make sure you enjoy your trip. Be sure to take a jacket because it gets chilly on the way back after your wet.

Excellent boat ride to coast! We read all the negative reviews and were prepared for seasickness. We purchased some bonine but didn't even need it. Never got sick despite eating right before boarding and drinking and eating while on boat tour. Although most of those reviews were in Nov-Feb winter months. Our trip was perfect! Boat ride was slightly bumpy only 3 of 48 got a little sick and the crew was so attentive and caring to their needs. Views were amazing and the HoloHolo team was excellent! Great customer service and food and drinks were delish. Fun boat adventure coupled with amazing scenery and fun crew was a perfect add to our vacation. Would do again!

This was a super fun tour. The swells were huge that day, but the captain let us know ahead of time for the weather conditions and gave everyone an opportunity to opt out if they didn’t want to deal with the boat rocking too much.
It was really fun. The sights were amazing, the stops were amazing. We saw spinner dolphins too! It was just amazing. Good food and the crew and captain were very attentive. It was captain Cole, and the crew mates were Zoey and Eric! They were all great! Thank you! Once in a lifetime experience!

Beautiful and fun adventure! Captain Glen and his crew kept us safe, entertained and well fed.

Everything we saw was gorgeous and awe-inspiring.

I took a light raincoat with a hood. We got a wee bit wet and it got a bit chilly after the sun went down.

We highly recommend this tour.

The Na Pali coast is beautiful and it would be from any boat. But this was advertised as a romantic dinner tour with champagne etc on a comfortable catamaran… it was not. The catamaran is packed with people. the ocean in that area is choppy and the boat has to cover a lot of distance during the tour. This makes for speeding over crashing waves and a LOT of sea sickness by passengers. Do not try to dress nicely, you will get completely drenched in sea spray no matter where you are sitting. The crew is very nice. However, they really push the mai tai’s. By the end of the 4.5 hours everyone is either getting sick off the side of the boat or hammered. Just not what we expected from how it was described when we first signed up!

The Nepali Coast is stunning, and I have no regrets about doing this “cruise”, because this was the only way I felt we could get to this part of the island. And it did not disappoint. But Sunset Slap & Soak, Sunset Rollercoaster Water Ride, or Sunset Puke Fest would all be more apt descriptions.

My husband and I, celebrating 40 years of marriage, found this experience to be absolutely hilarious, and I felt a little bit stupid ( which is why I am writing a review, to help others) for not understanding that this would not be a leisurely romantic cruise at sunset, even after having read countless reviews both good and bad.

To start, it was an absolutely beautiful day weather wise, but in order to get to the Nepali Coast from Port Allen you have to cover a lot of distance, and to keep the cruise within the allotted time frame Captain Cole had to basically race up and down the coast. The fast speed creates the slapping against the swells, the slapping causes the water to come over the top of the boat and smacks you in the face whether you are in the front or the back of the boat. The only way to stay dry is to stay in the center of the boat under cover, and there is not a lot of room in that covered area.

The slapping also creates a roller coast effect launching you airborne after every slap. I didn’t fight it. I just let my body go with it, and I think that was easier on me. And, the truth is, that it was warm enough on the way out that I did not mind getting wet, the exception being that I was getting a lot of salt water in my eyes which stung and made it difficult to open my eyes, in spite of my sunglasses and a towel that I used to dry off my eyes.

Given the way this catamaran is operated it is absolutely no surprise to me that people got sick on this cruise, and no surprise to Holo either. Zoe and Aaron were well prepared with stuff to help those that got sick. As we watched numerous people puking in front of us, my husband jokingly commented that they needed a hose to clean off the deck, and at that same moment Aaron pulled out a hose. We had a good laugh. So, just know that they know people will get sick. If you need an appetite suppressant… this will do it.

As promised the crew, Aaron and Zoe served drinks promptly and often to those imbibing. There were appetizers too, but my husband felt the ride at that high speed created too much wind, and was too rough to balance a small plate of cheese and crackers. I agreed, and to his point, we did see food flying off plates all around.

Same thing happened at dinner, but it was even more of a challenge at that point because the catamaran was traveling back from the Nepali coast at break neck speed, and we were still getting slapped with water continuously, so I don’t know how we could possibly have eaten anything. Note: if you are sitting outside you are eating in your lap, and if you had a drink that would make balancing things even trickier. We did not attempt to eat dinner on the boat, so I cannot speak to quality of the food.

The Napali Coast was stunning, but we did not spend a lot of time there. The Captain drove us under a waterfall, so we could stand under it if we wanted to, although I am not sure there was any way to opt out. Again, though, I did not mind getting completely drenched. First he went head first into the cave so the people in front could get wet. They he backed the boat into the cave for those of us in the back, and then I guess he wasn’t sure the entire back of the boat got wet, so he angled the boat a little differently to ensure that the right side of the boat got wet too.

On the way back along the Napali the captain pointed out many things about the coastline, and it was very informative. However when he picked up speed again it did become pretty uncomfortable. My towel was soaked at that point, and so was my windbreaker, and getting sprayed in the face and side of the head at that point was uncomfortable because I was cold, and it kind of hurts.

So, here’s what I would suggest to anyone who wants to do this cruise, and fully enjoy it. Do Take Dramamine or something for motion sickness an hour before the cruise. I did, and I was fine. Wear or bring a poncho or a rain coat (make sure you have a hood) and if you are like me and get cold easily bring a fleece or sweatshirt or warmer jacket to wear under the poncho. And, don’t dress up for this!

And, here is what I would suggest to Holo. Let people know that it’s pretty much a certainty that they will get soaked on the cruise, and that the boat travels fast. Don’t call it a sunset cruise, as this implies smooth ride, at least to me, and evokes images of romance. Call it an expedition or an experience like no other! And, find a type of plate ware that has sides on it, possibly something like chinette pasta bowls so the food is easier to balance, because at the point at which dinner was served buffet style the catamaran was lurching so much it was difficult to walk around let alone with something in your hands.

Last, be sure to bring cash to tip the crew! (We did)
