This 9-hour tour will show you the best of Douro, the first Portuguese wine region and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about Douro and it's evolution all over centuries. Marvel at the sculpted landscape on the best viewpoints over the Douro Valley. Take a 1-hour river cruise, learn about the production of olive oil at a local producer property, visit two Port wine estates (wine tasting included) and enjoy the lunch at a typical portuguese restaurant.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Douro River
Most of the tour has the Douro river as the scenic scenary through the day. The wineries that are visited offer incredible views to the river.
2. Peso Da Regua
Whenever possible we stop at the city of Peso da Régua, an historical city of the Douro Valley associated with the commerce of wine. Here we provide our guests a brief explanation about the city and allow some free time for a coffee and pictures.
3. Quinta do Tedo
Quinta do Tedo is one of several wineries that we can visit on our tour. In this visit you will learn about the wine-making process of Quinta do Tedo with a local guide. It includes a guided wine tasting session where you will be explained about the different wines to be tasted. NOTE: wineries or order of wineries visited may differ depending on their availability NOTE 2:Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
4. The Douro Valley
In the heart of the Douro Valley you will have the chance to visit Pinhão. In the past Pinhão used to be an important place for commerce and transport of the wine from Douro to Porto. The wine was first commercialized and next shipped in the traditional Rabelo boat to remain aging in Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river in Porto. In the village of Pinhão we stop for a 1h river cruise as well as we have lunch at a traditional local restaurant. NOTE: Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
5. Quinta do Beijo
Quinta do Beijo is the second winery of several wineries that we can visit on our tour. This is a small local winery with very good wines that can not be bought in the city. The visit is usually done by the owner of the property himself while he tells you more about the production and the flavors of its wines. NOTE: wineries or order of wineries visited may differ depending on their availability NOTE 2:Visits at the wineries and river cruises are not fully private and open to external participants.
6. Porto
We return to Porto from Douro Valley close to 6:00 PM, where our guide will leave you at your selected drop off point.

• Possibility of vegetarian or gluten free meal, please advise at time of booking if required;
• Pick-up service starts at 8:00 AM (NOT 8:30 AM)
• We send the exact pick-up time by mail the evening before the tour takes place - please confirm reception of message and be ready in advance for pick-up to avoid delays or missing the tour.
• Douro Valley's temperature is very high in the summer and cold in the winter. Thus, light clothes in summer and warm clothes in the winter are recommended;
• Weather Note: All of our activities happen in covered and protected spaces - we guarantee a safe and comfortable tour despite any weather conditions.
• Not recommended for children - if you are bringing children, please inform us in advance, as car seating is mandatory by Portuguese law.
• You can also be picked up from a private address other than hotels in Porto downtown area/city center only (Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos cities are outside pick-up limits).
• If your address is outside pick-up limits or in an area of difficult access (examples: pedestrian street/narrow street/place with very elevated traffic volume) we will set a meeting point a few minutes away so that you can board our van.
• NOTE TO TRAVEL AGENCIES: While we understand that your office may be closed when we send our confirmations due to different timezones if you do not provide the client's direct contact number/email, you are responsible for contacting the client at the time we send the pick-up details (day before the tour takes place, by the end of the day, UNTIL 23:00 PM, PORTUGAL TIME) - Travel Agencies assume responsibility if the client does not show up due to the lack of communication between them.

The scenery is worth the trip. Pictures can not capture the natural beauty of the landscape. Our driver navigated the complicated terrain with ease allowing us to relax and enjoy. We laughed and talked with wonderful people we met on the trip. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

My wife, godparents, and I had a great time on the tour. Brahim kept the tour lively throughout and was a fantastic guide and host. I'd highly recommend this tour with the smaller group and Brahim as your guide. To start the tour he added an additional stop on the way out in the morning at Amarante. This was a beautiful, quaint town that allowed for fantastic views of the river that runs through it, the bridge, and church.

After that, the scheduled activities took place with a visit to a boutique table winery, a tasty lunch, the one hour river cruise, and a port winery.

Douro valley is gorgeous and is a must do when visiting Porto. Brahmin was an excellent tour guide who was able to seamlessly accommodate multiple languages. He explained everything we were seeing very well and his glowing personality encouraged our group to have a lot of fun.

Andreia is a kind, beautiful soul that runs a great tour and makes your life better afterwards. Really, she has wonderful energy. Ask her about living in other countries and she’ll also share why she came home.You also might walk away with some classic Portuguese phrases to share with your friends! The following are her superpowers:
• She conjures parking spaces out of thin air by “asking the universe”.
• She is never with the olive oil. Ask her what this means.
• She can count to infinity. Twice.
• She can jump over her own shadow. Even when the sun isn’t shining.
• She can win Connect Four, in two moves.
• She can do a wheelie on a unicycle
• She can cook minute rice in 30 seconds

After the tour, we had the pleasure to meet two other tour guides from [insert company name]. After spending time with them, we wanted to include them in our review:

Ivo’s personality mimics a caffeinated, rainbow skittles, Pegasus flying over a Porto sunset. It’s just entertaining & lovely. If he is your guide, ask him to do his Shakira impression. Tell him a joke and laugh when he laughs, the hair flip you'll see is the best!

Pedro is a rockstar. He can balance better than a mountain goat. But please do not yuke in his van. He is an amazing cleaner, but that’s bad ju-ju. BTW, Ivo stole all of his hair.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. The views were beyond beautiful. I really enjoyed seeing some of the smaller wineries and learning the history of this region.
