“Le Macchine di Leonardo”, the world’s biggest (PRIVATE) collection of Leonardo da Vinci machines is born following the
juvenile passion of Carlo (born on 25th February 1936), the founder of the Niccolai family and company.
Particularly skilled craftsmen, the members of the Niccolai family have so far developed 250 different models, and 50 interactive models
based on the
Da Vinci codes and on historical documents using the materials of Leonardo’s time: wood, metal, ropes and fabrics.
According to the unwritten rules of Florentine craftsmen, Carlo Niccolai has passed on his passion to his sons and grandsons, who, thanks to their knowledge of new technologies have enriched the collection with new models and organised more than a hundred exhibitions all over the world in the last ten years.
The exhibition is 850 square meters of exposure on three floors

This is a really fun and interactive museum. It is great fun for kids and also informative. You really get to see the genius of Leonardo in action.

Only go if you have young children and don't buy tickets online (30 euro for 3 online, 24 at museum). See it all in 10 minutes.

What a great place to visit and be dazzled by Da Vinci genius!
Also a good spot for children to try his inventions and get away from the more ‘adult’ tourist sites!

The museum was interesting. We enjoyed ourselves roaming the floors and rooms. I loved seeing DaVinci’s works in 3D. The staff was not too friendly though. I came with my vouchers and they were quick and cold to us. Not sure why, maybe a bad day but even when we left and looking around the shop they ignored us and talked amongst themselves when we tried to speak with them. Loved the theme, not the staff.

We really enjoyed the presentation. The puzzles were fun and the models were interesting. I’d recommend for a family with kids for sure.

I was disappointed by the flow of the presentation, the space, the lack of good AC, and the quality of the description. Not fun

This was an excellent muse with a lot of interactive exhibits for the kids. I highly recommend it. We were able to buy the tickets on arrival with no wait.

Very interesting and the amount of inventions/ideas was huge. Nice interactions with some of them. As an engineer I loved it.

We stopped by this museum on a whim because we were in the area. WOW! I never realized the full brilliance of Leonardo DaVinci. It was amazing to see the things he conceived and designed. Scientist, artist, visionary… If you view this museum from the perspective of the time in which he lived, you will be inspired.

Let's start off withh that this is really not a museum but a display of some of Leonardo da Vinci's most interesting ideas, drawings and models. With the copies if his original notes and the descriptions of his works, it is a most illuminating museum. He really was a genius.
