2. Thingvellir National Park
Learn about some of the thrilling and somewhat gruesome history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park. It’s significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began and visit sites where Viking-era justice was carried out including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also the place where two tectonic plates are gradually separating creating a gorgeous landscape of steep cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
3. Geysir
The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.
4. Strokkur
While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.
5. Gullfoss Waterfall
The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

This was a fantastic tour of the Golden Circle! Darren was an exceptional tour guide with information about each site we visited, as well as expert knowledge of Iceland and its culture. Darren and our driver, Pail, made our tour a comfortable, and very memorable experience!

We had an excellent driver (Palli) and an amazing guide (Darren). Very knowledgeable about Iceland. Indications were very clear. Comfortable seats in a clean bus. It made the 7 hours go by really fast. Thanks again.

Our bus tour started at noon. We got on the bus at the Reykjavik Terminal Bus Hostel. This was a large tour bus, we we were not filled to capacity. It was a nice amount of people. Our guide was Roman. Our bus driver was Greg. . And Greg did a great job as bus driver. We made several stops on our tour. Roman was a wonderful guide, and a great storyteller. Very engaging. Both Roman and Greg seemed like they really enjoyed their jobs. It was fun to do the tour with them. We had a great day with them. Our long day tour went by quite fast. I would do this tour again.

The waterfall was definitely the highlight of the tour. The geyser was relatively unimpressive. The national park was very informative and we enjoyed it.

It was a good day for the Iceland adventure. The guide was so good and knew a lot of the history and talked about the area. She was kindly and helpful. We enjoyed the waterfall and the glasir.

Our guide Jakob was excellent! He kept us engaged and entertained with his stories and humor. He also managed time at a leisurely pace, giving the participants ample opportunity to enjoy the sights. The tour is good value for money.

Unfortunately the weather was not the kindest to us on this excursion but our tour guide Jacob was excellent. He had a great deal of knowledge which he shared in a very engaging abd humorous manner. We were given plenty of time to explore the sights and what wonderful sights they are.

This is a must for all tourists! I enjoyed the drive in the comfortable bus and our guide was excellent. The three stops had ample time to see the area, shop, use the facilities, or even grab a small snack. While you might think seeing only 3 sites on a 7 hour tour isn’t enough, the drive covers so much as well. Iceland is absolutely beautiful.
