Our group of 4 booked this private tour in hopes of learning about the culture of the island and it did not dissappoint. Our certified tour guide, David, was the best. He arrived early to pick us up. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area, and had great passion for sharing his knowledge of Old San Juan, Loiza, and the island in general. He was patient with all of our questions and allowed us to linger longer at stops of particular interest to us. The tour was well organized and included points of interest that provided exposure to Puerto Rico's rich Afro Ancestral Heritage. As an added bonus, we had lunch at a locally owned restaurant frequented by the locals (Villa Herrera Pesquera, I think) that serves delicious authentic Puerto Rican food along a pristine stretch of beach. The view was breathtaking. There, I had had the best Pina Colada I've ever had in my entire life and I don't like coconut. Our server convinced me to try it and I'm so glad I did. You must try the shrimp mofongo with cream sauce. If you're looking for an authentic experience while in Puerto Rico, book with Cloud Getaways and ask for David.

This was an unbelievable experience...almost spiritual. I left Puerto Rico when I was 16 years old. It's been 31 years since. I have visited the beautiful island five other times, but this visit to Loiza was different. Revisiting the different pieces that make up our Puerto Rican culture was educational, emotional at times, exciting, and all with an overwhelming sense of connectedness. The artistry of Master Samuel Lind took my breath away. What a beautiful soul! The experiences in the cave and the Ceiba tree left me speechless. The entire community was inviting and warm. Learning to dance the Afro Rican dances was simply fun and rich. Our tour guide, David, was the best. Of course, the food was delicious! We had been to beaches, rainforest, waterfalls, and other gems in days prior. This activity was a nice change of pace. It was a day of art, history and culture. Perfection!

David is incredibly friendly and makes the day feel like you’re hanging out with an old friend. The stops are authentic, “how the natives live” places and I would do it again and again

I can’t begin to explain how magnificent this tour was! David was amazing and we didn’t want it to end. My friends and I raved that this was by far one of the best tours we’ve ever had. Me and some classmates came here for a Study Abroad scholarship and we had an out of this world tour. Our tour guide David was the best he truly showed us all Loíza had to offer. The trip felt so authentic and truly highlighted all the Afro ancestry in Puerto Rico. We also were able to meet legends like Samuel Lind and Sheila Osorio who showcased many elements of this Afro ancestry. At the end of the trip we all felt so connected and like a family we even ended up giving our tour guide a nickname being “Tío David”. I truly recommend this experience to everybody it’s an 100/10 and a life changing experience.

David really showed us how much he loves Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, a couple of the things he had planned were no longer available, but he made sure we had fun anyway! We were able to hang out at a beautiful beach for the afternoon and learned quite a bit about Loíza!
