On this tour of Montreal's downtown, we will explore what used to be the Red-Light district. I'm inviting you to revisit the naughty part of our city's history. We will look into the crimes scene and the sex work of Montreal from the 1920's to the 1950's. We will discuss about the impact of the prohibition on our city that led Montreal to be known as the Sin City of the North or the Paris of North America. Among different adult subjects, we will discuss about drug trade, the gambling industry, sex work, brothel activities and the notorious criminals of Montreal. We will also talk about the different morality squads that fought crimes and corruptions and that led to the late closing of the Red-Light district.

Nicolas was extremely knowledgeable about history regarding crime, the red light district, and all of the historical buildings including how to pick out what used to be brothels. It was very interesting and I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting!

Nicolas was incredible!!! Super knowledgable about the city and its dark past, he was open and able to answer all of our questions. He wove together an almost 3 hour tour as if it were a story. We’d go on this tour again if we ever visit the city in the future, he’s bound to know even more by the time we come back!

Absolutely phenomenal tour of a really interesting topic, that would basically be impossible to find out about on your own! Nicholas, the guide, is best-in-class! Superb knowledge of the geography of the city, and of history! Very humorous and entertaining too, and was just overall a PLEASURE to learn from! He also gave us a lot of exceptional recommendations of where to go eat in the city, the sort of gastronomy currently being executed in Montreal, where to shop for more interesting Montreal designers, and much more! Take this tour - you will LOVE IT!

I really enjoyed the tour and think it will get better as our guide refines his narrative and becomes more comfortable in general. He is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the topic, and knows Montreal and its evolution well. I’d encourage him to tighten the story and tour length - he was a bit all over the place, jumping around time periods and anecdotes. Also please don’t call female sex workers - past or present - “girls”.

I enjoyed learning about Montreal's seedy history. Learning about the various loopholes people did when they passed laws to restrict things (like how a performer cannot end a show with less than what they started, so they started all-but-naked) or how Montreal's Red Light District managed to give so many soldiers STDs during WWII that a general said the prostitutes were a bigger danger to their soldiers than the Axis powers.

Very great tour. Really informative about prohibition, mob life, brothels, much more and the city’s response. Took it from beginning to closing of the red light district. Thought it was a great history tour of the 1920s-1950s in Montreal. Tour guide really knew his history.

Weaving the history of the nefarious side of Montreal was intriguing! Nick is loaded with facts and stories that give you a real feeling of how things were in the Old Days. Very worthwhile.

This tour gave me a glimpse of the history of Montreal that is not often talked about in books. Our guide, Nicholas, was very knowledgeable on the topic and he was passionate about sharing what he knew with us. If you love history, you'll love this tour.
