If you go to Machu Picchu, which you should do, do at least the one day trek to the site, with the site tour th following morning. It definitely added so much to the experience. Our Alpaca Expeditions guides, Victor and Victor, were absolutely great. The 8.1 mile hike was definitely challenging, but that's part of what made the experience special. If you're reasonably fit and are able to walk around ok, you can do it! We'll never forget arriving at the Sun Gate. My #1 bucket list item now checked! Thanks Alpaca, and V and V for an experience of a lifetime! And to Victor the younger, especially, thanks from Beth for hanging back with her, taking time on the trek to point out all the wild orchids.

We were lucky to have Lucio as our lead tourguide. He is very experienced and speaks very good English. He has done the job for more than 20 years. With help of Elex during the long hiking, no one in our group left behind anytime anywhere. Their hard and professional work are greatly appreciated.

Stunning from the start. The train ride up to our makeshift platform and a quick walk over the rope bridge was the beginning of what I can only describe as the most breathtaking scenery I've ever seen. Ricardo and Raymundo were great craic, great help, informative and overall great company to have as our guides. Food was delicious and never left wanting for anything. Would thoroughly recommend Alpaca Expeditions.

We had an incredible time on our tour with Luz. She taught us all so much about the Incas, the history surrounding her ancestors and the wildlife and areas around the Inca Trail. She was very enthusiastic and kept our spirits high at all times. She went over and above to help my parents climb Wayna Picchu which wasn't even part of the tour. Make sure you ask for Luz because she made our experience unforgettable!!

The views were very much amazing and breathtaking! Our guide, Jhymy, was very friendly, energetic, and informative about Machu Picchu. The overall hike, however, does require some training since it’s like a Stairmaster, and quite more dangerous. Jhymy was very attentive to our own safety and entertainment, and the hike was well planned out. Isaac, too, is very informative and friendly, and especially patient with the other people who were behind. He assists us with any items that we need, (water, coca leaves, etc.) and he always waits and gives the people who are behind a short recap of what we had learned. In conclusion, the Alpaca Expeditions crew has done very well in this trip! 5 Stars!

Jhymy,our tour guide was so attentive in regard to our safety during our short hike to Machu Picchu. He also made our trek fun and educational explaining the Incan cultures and the showing us the different varieties of orchids and other native plants. Overall, Jhymy and the rest of the Alpaca Expedition crew made our family trip memorable. As we continue to explore Peru, we just booked our trip to Rainbow Mountain through Alpaca Expedition.

Visiting Machu Picchu has been a lifelong dream. Without question, Alpaca Expeditions was the way to go! The guides were wonderful. Jimmy and Isaq were professional, exceptionally kind, passionate and very informative. I went with my mom on the trek. We were in the back of the pack. It was tough, but doable. Isaq was particularly wonderful. He stayed with us the entire time and was so kind and encouraging. When we needed a break he would share information about Incan cultural practices and beliefs, the flora and fauna, etc.
They took care of all of the logistics - we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Their set up is like a well oiled machine. If you are planning on visiting Machu Picchu, Alpaca Expeditions is the only way to go.

We are so happy with our Alpaca Expeditions tour. Every detail you can think of is taken care of. The only thing we had to think about was having a good time.
We took the 2 day Inca Trail hike with hotel option. Our guides were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The lunch on the trail was prepared for us and ready to eat after the first half of the hike. The hotel that we stayed at after day 1 (included in the price of the tour) was of superior quality. Day 2 included a guided tour of one of the circuits at Machu Pichu. The tour gave us an appreciation for Incan history.
Bottom line: I give my highest recommendation to Alpaca Expeditions as your first choice in using a tour company. You'll be well taken care of.

We had Walter as our guide for three days doing the Sacred Valley tour (Moray, Maras, Chincheros and Ollantaytambo) as well as the Short Inca Trail hike and next day visit to Machu Picchu. All were better than excellent!
First of all, Walter is passionate about his country, Cusco and the Incas. It is clear from his descriptions and explanations that he has seriously researched these topics and as you ask questions you can see that he has more than just a shallow knowledge of the topics. Very impressive.
Secondly, he is a model guide. He is constantly reading you and can tell when you are tired, when you haven’t fully understood the point he is making, when you need a break and how to make sure that you get maximum benefit from this cultural experience and discovery.
Lastly, he can do magic with phone cameras … really … magic! When he offers to take your picture you take the opportunity … the pictures are stunning. We have been sending some back to friends and family back home and unanimously they all comment on the exceptional pictures.
Walter is good man … you can see it in his eyes and demeanour with people … not just the customers but the many friends that he has and encounters during the various tours. You sense that he is respected and cherished as a friend. If you get Walter as your guide, consider yourself very fortunate as your travel experience will be the best that it can be.
