1. Seljalandsfoss
The famous waterfall one you can walk behind. Be careful you might get wet :) This unique waterfall flows from the infamous glacier Eyjafjallajökull, the molten-syllables-which nobody can pronounce good for nothing volcanic glacier that stopped all the air traffic over the North-Atlantic back in 2010. At Seljalandsfoss there are restrooms, a food stall and a small gift shop. The restrooms are free of charge. NOTE:
2. Skogafoss
An archetypal waterfall, Skógafoss is one of the most beautiful and tallest waterfalls in Iceland. There is a staircase leading to a viewing platform for the waterfall and surrounding areas. The platform gives you an expansive view of the south coast, Eyjafjallajökull and Skógafoss. NOTE: the restrooms are behind a paywall and entry costs ISK 200 / USD 2.
3. Solheimajokull Glacier
Sólheimajökull is a glacier tongue, an offshoot off of the main body of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. We walk towards Sólheimajökull, through the valley it has carved out of the mountain scape and along the glacier river it forms at its base. The valley is a chaotic collection of rocks, gravel and sand which the tongue ground down as it passed over the land. The glacier is unlike others as it is striped with layers of ash crushed between seasonal layers of ice, but the glacier is surrounded by multiple active volcanic stations. NOTE: the restrooms are behind a paywall and entry costs ISK 300 / USD 2.5, they accept credit cards.
4. Reynisfjara Beach
Reynisfjara, or the Black Sand Beach, is truly a natural marvel. The site offers beautiful basalt columns, a natural arc viewed from afar, troll-like sea stacks and during the summer season there are thousands of puffins which make the cliffs of the Black Sand Beach their home. We do both sightseeing and the lunch break there. The restaurant overlooks the South Coast and offers bites suitable for any palate and diet. Restrooms are free for customers.
5. Vik
A short photo stop at the photogenic village of Vík. We stop by the town's church where the troll-like basalt stacks and the village provide the perfect background for a selfie :D

This was a great trip with a great guide Thor. We were on a small sprinter van with around 15 people which was very comfortable for the drive. We stopped at some of the most incredible scenic stops and had plenty of time at each location. Thor did a great job sharing stories during the drive to help better understand the history of the south coast. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland who wants a day trip from downtown.

If you want to experience the South Coast of Iceland this is a fantastic and affordable trip. I especially recommend doing it in the summer; it was a lovely 15C (hitting 20C near the Black Sand Beach) and the views/photos were incredible! Plenty of pit stops throughout so you can grab coffee, stretch your legs, etc. We even made an extra stop near Eyjafjallajökull which wasn't on the itinerary but it was necessary to avoid FOMO, of course. Major thanks as stated in the title to Thor, whose commentary and stories throughout the trip were super informative and humorous; his music selection is also top notch. Not sure if you can choose your driver but trust me, if you get Thor, you have GREAT luck!

Great tour of Iceland’s South Coast. Our operator provided information about the sites we visited, but the sound system on our van was staticky….and information was somewhat limited.

Völli our driver took incredible care of us. He was funny and very informative about every aspect of the tour. He even took us to some unadvertised sightseeing spots that were fantastic. The bus was great too, very comfortable with WiFi & usb chargers.

My wife and I, joined by around 15 others were part of this day tour. We were picked up on time, outside of Hotel Kletter, our arranged spot. Our tour guide, and also our driver, was Sla’ve. (Slavay). He was a great driver, and an awesome tour guide. A great conversationalist, and a wonderful storyteller. He was a joy to visit with. No shortage of information. I loved it. This was probably our yuckiest weather day of our entire 3 week trip. And even with being that, it ended up being a great day. We saw plenty of amazing sights. It was a long day, with a lot of driving. That is ok, as then we got to see more scenery. There were quite a few sightseeing stops, and plenty of break/bathroom stops. Towards the end of the tour we were given a piece of delicious Icelandic candy. I made sure befor we departed Iceland, to buy a couple bags for us to take home. We had a great bus tour. I would do it again.

our driver guide Guna was super kind and friendly! enjoyed the tour a lot. I wish we could spend a bit more time at the first falls to go up the steps.
