The day we went was one of the wettest Tokyo had seen in a long time. It absolutely poured all day and we should have been given the option to cancel with a refund on the day. We were all soaked through before even getting on the bus. We had to stand in the rain whilst waiting to be checked off the list, there was no cover anywhere in the pick up area. We saw nothing of Fuji due to the freezing driving rain and gale force winds

We were extremely fortunate to have a sunny, clear day and saw Fuji in all her glory! The lunch was great, the gondola ride was fun and the pirate ship ride was a nice way to end the day. Big shout out to Nori, who was a great guide.

The problem was the heavy traffic. It took us 4 hours to reach Mt Fuji (this was also caused by crazy participants, who came too late in the morning and than we had to stop for 45 minutes for toilettes). The consequence was that we could not visit the 5th level of Mt. Fuji and we could not make a pirate boat ride on the lake. This is a petty and some participants were very agressive and required their money back. But this is not a mistake of the tour organisator, even everybody received some days before a message of the traffic situation which could lead to plan changes. The tour guide and the assistant did a very good job and tried their best to show us the locations.

To begin with, I don't think the problem lies with Viator, as the company simply facilitates the purchase of our tickets from travel companies. BUT I hated this trip. Firstly, it's not the location that's lacking; Mount Fuji is beautiful and there are plenty of things to do there. The real issue is that the company offers SEVERAL activities, the main ones being the 5th station, Hakone Ropeway, and the cruise on Mount Fuji. However, we were only able to do the Hakone Ropeway (and we only got to enjoy the volcanoes for 15 minutes) before the guide informed us that we had missed the last pirate ship on the lake. The guide and the company were aware that on that day, everyone would be out. Instead of suggesting an earlier departure or ensuring that we didn't waste any time (for example, spending an hour at a service station), the guide kept announcing throughout the day, as if it were normal, that all activities were cancelled (without even mentioning a refund). He made it clear that since he was taking us elsewhere, there would be no reimbursement: As if 15 minutes spent on the shores of the lake could replace a 30-minute boat cruise. (I remind you that we paid 120 euros per person). I won't even mention the guide who deliberately tried to turn all the other travelers against us because we contacted his agency for a refund. (By the way, he succeeded quite well because despite the fact that the travelers were of a certain age, implying a certain level of intelligence, they all insulted us, one even saying, "Go drown in the lake, you and your father."). In short, this day was catastrophic. The guide clearly lacks the organizational skills he should have, and the price is way too high for the few activities we could actually do. At this price, I would strongly advise you to take a flight to Seoul and spend a weekend there instead.
