You will visit Japan's National Treasure, Toshogu Shrine. According to many, this is the most gorgeous shrine of Japan, with its gold leaf decortions, its carvings of animal figures and the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the most famous shogun in Japanese history.
The Kegon waterfall will take your breath away with its 100 meters in height!
It is the only way out for Lake Chuzenji's water.
The lake, at the foot of Mt. Nantai, is the most iconic landscape of this region, with a temple and some former embassies by its shore.

Nikko world heritage is not very known by tourists and also therefore we were just small minibus with 7 people. Unfortunately on our way to Nikko there was a traffic jam which shortened a bit time on each location. The tour was well organized and our English speaking guide (lady) was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately as she did not have a microphone - when traffic around was loud, we could not hear her properly. Our 1st and most important stop was Nikko Toshogu Shrine which is complex of several temples, pagoda etc. which are registered in Unesco. You could spend hours here. Beautifully carved wooden temples. As there are many stairs - this place is adventurous for people with walking difficulties. Then we stopped at Kegon Falls - which is 100 meter high waterfall (I recommend also to take also a lift down to the bottom of the fall). Then we stopped at lake Chuzengi which mountain lake and to it we took 24 curves road. As we had only half hour at the lake - we just had short walk - as it was not able to take a boat. Several people including me had lunch option which was vegetarian lunch - it was ok, but nothing special. Overall it was nice trip and Nikko Toshogu shrine is really worth to visit.

We went a day tour to Nikko, a small town 150 km north of Tokyo. We visited Nikko Toshogu Shrine that enshrines the most famous samurai leader Tokugawa Ieyasu. Its carved and brilliantly decorated structures are part of the Shrines and Temples of Nikko UNESCO World Heritage site and the highlight of any visit to Tochigi.

Driver & tour guide man were terrible Lady was very nice & politely helpful. Felt unsafe as 78plus year old. No time for Coffee at stops. Just bathrooms. Had to use Police help to get taxi at Return drop off station. Woman was nice & helping. Didn’t remember their names Sorry. No stepstool to get in & off bus as high. Feeling unsafe.

Lovely sights, amazing tour guides -- my mother has difficulty walking and the guides went out of their way to make sure she was accommodated.

I enjoyed seeing all the locations and having the freedom to roam around. It definitely helps if you have your own travel guides because it is a mostly independent experience once you reach the actual locations, which can be nice if you know what you want to do but maybe not as much if you want someone to directly guide you around. It went well for me.

Great tour and really beautiful. Bummer the damn to the waterfall was shut but not the guides fault. The lake and falls area were gorgeous. The temples were really amazing.
