Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. Located just 30-40 minutes from Reykjavík, the tunnel is easily accessible year round. Discover the inner workings of a volcanic eruption and walk along the path where lava flowed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred approximately 5200 years ago. Simple yet this is a unique experience. Well worth the money. Dimitri is a calm, knowledgeable and funny guide. Don't forget to dress warm as it is surprisingly cold in there (0 °C). Thanks again !

Going Dark was the greatest thing ever! We stayed in the dark for what felt like eternity. Anyways! Our guide was awesome — super communicative by always checking in with people; precise in terms of pace and questions, and above all: super funny and entertaining. Anytime someone asked a question he would tease or make a comment that got everyone laughing. For example; we are thirty minutes into the lava tunnel learning about how these giant boulders fall from the ceiling and cave walls over time — when someone asks “could there be a cave in, has that ever happened?” And he looks back by the entrance which is like around the bend and a kilometer away and goes “you ask that now?” Lol.

This was a ton of fun! It wasn't overly challenging (nor was it supposed to be), but it had that "authentic" feel to it, and it was perfect for my family, which included people of all ages. Definitely worth the visit to see the caves.
And, as a bonus, our guide was awesome!

Our tour guides name was Ben and he was great. We really got to know about the tunnel and he was funny as he did tell jokes. It was truly amazing to see how dark the tunnel got when he turned out the lights! Would recommend to anyone thinking about booking this tour!

It was a great experience. We did the one hour tour which was enough to know about the lava tunnels. Our guide Alex, was knowledgeable and fun to listen and made the hour go by fast! He was very careful about our safety and safety of our cell phones as well!

This was a very cool short trip. Fit this in your schedule if you have time as we learned a lot and is worth the time. The tour guide had a good sense of humor. Make sure you arrive 10-15 minutes early as they start early before the booked time.

The tour and the tour guide were fantastic! We did the shorter 1 hour version of the tour and the cave was beautiful and the tour guide was both very fun and informative. I would recommend taking some pictures with and without night sight as both can lead to some very nice pics. I would recommend to anyone!
