Experience Katana and Zen in a historical Samurai house in Kyoto. This is an excellent chance for visitors to try out a REAL Katana (Japanese sword) and Samurai culture. Through this course, you can learn and feel “Bushido” with Katana and Zen.

The staff is excellent! My grandsons, 11 and 14 embraced the samurai experience with grace, compassion and appreciation for the art and skill shared with them.

An incredible once in a lifetime experience! Start by watching an amazing drum and sword performance by a trained swordsman followed by lessons with wooden blades and then our own chance to slice tatami mats with real, 130 year old katanas! End with a zen meditation session. Leave with amazing memories and photos!

A must do in Kyoto. We took our 11 year old son and he absolutely loved it (as did we). Staff were awesome and the experience was both fun and educational.

What fun. Nice short succinct review of history relevant to samurai warriors. Super interesting house interior. Wonderful exhibition of samurai skills and then great fun trying ourselves as well as meditation.

A lot of history was provided, and the house has been kept in its original state as much as possible.
The training and using a real sword was amazing.

Family of four (two teenagers) loved this experience. Loved learning about the history of Samurai and of course actually getting to experience first hand using the samurai sword was the highlight. Staff were warm and friendly throughout the experience. A great way to spend some time in Kyoto off your feet!

It was a fun, unique, and interesting experience. Primary reason for the 4 rating instead of 5 was the cost; it felt a little expensive for what it was.

We really enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend.
The team working here are all friendly and professional.
The location is not easy to find, so would highly recommend thorough research before setting out - we took two separate taxis and both were unable to find it. One dropped us off fairly close and then we literally stumbled upon it whilst walking the area. This meant we embarrassingly arrived a little late but the staff were friendly and understanding.
Loved the fact that it was a unique experience that I won’t forget and am unlikely to do anywhere else in the world.

The American hosts/translators were great storytellers and gave the perfect amount of information to help us picture samurai life. The demonstration was short and interesting. Kids loved the hands on opportunity with the sword. Using it was not difficult.

I love swords, so this was a really fun experience! The explanations were very thorough and it was a safe and secure experience. It was an experience I would like to participate in again.
