This was a fun tour , with a lovely guide who was very knowledgeable about Icelandic history , culture and cuisine.
Not too much walking involved on the tour , but a trip to a number of different eateries , trying out the local produce , and also a few shops to see what can be bought from Iceland and what is imported. The 3 hour booked tour ended up running for over 4 hours , what excellent value for money , it enriched my knowledge of Iceland , and I’d recommend it to anyone

A fantastic tour to some of the unkown of iceland. A tripe to the past and to the culture of iceland. Interesting stories and the street art that give some colour to the city streets are things people dont give much importance and on this tour you have a glinch os it. Was great. Thank you Sabrina for such precious moments.

Wow! I have been on A LOT of food tours all over the world but never have I been on one quite like this one. Sabrina has a superb way of making everyone feel like you're having an enjoyable evening out in Iceland. She was super flexible with us as our bus was very late coming back from the blue lagoon and thankfully the very sweet couple we were with who were also from Iceland were very patient and extended the time and the tour itself to accommodate us. That was a gift for us and we surely appreciated it! This tour does exactly what it promises-- it gives you a taste of Iceland's past and present art, architecture, history and culture! We went to several stops and the food was absolutely amazing! Although I do eat meat, I appreciated that Sabrina also catered the food on the tour to a participant with vegetarian dietary needs as well. We shared the food family style and the vegetarian options were also very tasty! The food was just the right amount at each stop. We learned so much! What is so very special about this small group tour is that we learned not only about the origins of different delicious and fresh foods of Iceland, but also about each other! We discussed our own histories and cultures, and shared our own experiences in a way you can only do over a delicious meal, or nice glass of ale. This food tour is a rare intimate, fun-filled and enjoyable experience. If I had another day in Iceland, I would definitely do this tour again. You must do this tour if you're in Reykjavik! You will truly feel like you are having a night out with friends! Tell Sabrina that Mary and Nanette sent ya! 😉😉

Amazing experience with Sabrina. This tour was a mixture of really interesting food bites, folklore, Icelandic history and interesting facts. The food was fascinating and definitely enough for an evening meal. And Sabrina accommodated my not eating meat perfectly. I really didn't feel like I missed out at all. We tried Icelandic bread and spreads, fish soup, fish stew in cognac, lamb wraps, beer and chocolate covered licorice! Oh and licorice ice-cream!! Do the tour, you will not be sorry.

What a fantastic trip! This is definitely an “off the beaten path” tour, which was much appreciated by our group. We visited several local establishments in Grandi that were charming and had delicious food. Sabrina clearly does her research and provides fun, informative stories, anecdotes and history about the culture and food of the local area. Would recommend to everyone!

We booked this tour through Viatour that has a 24 hour cancellation refund. The tour was to be as part of a cruise to Iceland starting at Rejkavik. This tour looked very interesting and seemed to be a good way of learning about the city whilst trying the food! Sabrina of BiteSized Iceland contacted us the day before to advise of the arrangements and so we were well prepared. Our tour was scheduled for a 3.00 pm start.
Much to our disappointment, at 11 am on the day we were advised that the ship would not be able to dock due to high winds and so we would be unable to sail into Rejkavik. We emailed Sabrina to advise that we would not be able to do the tour thinking that would be that. Sabrina telephoned us and when we explained our predicament she had no hesitation in stating that she would refund the cost of our booking.
This was certainly unexpected and something that we had not even considered due to the booking conditions. Sabrina explained that she had only started her company recently but that this was is in-line with her values and her brand. Sabrina stated that she did not want to take advantage of people on holiday.
Despite the fact that we were unable to do the tour the whole process of booking through Viator and talking to the operator was a very easy and good experience. We hope to repay Sabrina by returning to Rejkavik in the near future and will certainly book her tour.

Our group of 5 from the UK and US were all visiting Reykjavik for the first time, and Sabrina’s tour was a great introduction to Icelandic history and food culture. Sabrina was a pleasure, and gave a clear, entertaining and informative tour with lots of great insight into the Icelandic approach to food both historical and today. It felt like visiting a new place with an extremely knowledgeable friend! Sabrina was also generous with her time and so accommodating, as our group could not make the earlier tour times. Would highly recommend!

We were looking for a compact walking tour in a flat part of Reykjavik as 1 of our group has mobility limitations. It turns out that this tour is essentially barrier-free. Sabrina is flexible and can/will make the adjustments needed.

This tour exposed us to Icelandic culture and history through food. The first stop was a bakery where we were introduced to typical Icelandic breads and spreads known as salads — some traditional and some more contemporary.

On the walk between the food establishments, we learned about street art and the history of the area — a former industrial fish processing district which has experienced recent redevelopment. Sabrina delighted in answering our questions on a variety of related and unrelated subjects.

At our second food stop, we sampled Icelandic lamb in a mediterranen style wrap. This is an example of how chefs are showcasing Icelandic products in contemporary ways. Sheep were brought by the original settlers and have thrived on Iceland unlike some other livestock imports. Sheep of course are important for the Icelandic wool industry as well.

Sabrina has done her research. She helped us to understand how the settlers and subsequent generations of Icelanders ate to survive. We sampled dried [not salted] fish which is eaten with butter and fresh dulse. She told us of how food was preserved before refrigeration became common. She talked about how Ritz crackers became an essential pantry staple as well as Cheerios [original ones].

We visited a well stocked butcher shop to see the variety and different cuts of meat used in Icelandic cookery. This particular shop also stocks some imported foods too.

Next stop was the oldest restaurant in Reykjavik where we got a history lesson and sampled traditional fish soup and fish cakes with sauce. These are both foods that are regularly on the menu at school lunches and in most homes.

On to a craft brewery for a local beer. The final stop was for ice cream which is very, very popular in Iceland as an after dinner treat year round.

The tour takes 3 hours or so. We had a satisfying meal in stages and learned a lot about Iceland through its food.

A wonderful walking tour along the old harbor in Reykjavík. The tour gives you a little taste of Icelands history and food. Our guide was very informative, well versed and able to answer all our questions.
