WHAT TO EXPECT

Your Adventure begins when your experienced guide picks you up in a comfortable minibus in the morning to explore the famous Golden Circle.
2. Thingvellir National Park
Few locations in the world provide a finer and clearer perspective of this vast geographic activity than Thingvellir National Park, home to one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world: tourists can observe the effects of two moving tectonic plates: the North American and Eurasian ones. The national park is frequently referred to as "The Galapagos of the North" because it is also home to Iceland's largest natural lake and is home to a wide variety of fish and bird species! Thingvellir, the location of the parliament's founding in 930 AD, is deeply ingrained in Icelandic national history. The translation of "Thingvellir" is "Parliament Plains." Because of this, the park is a must-visit location for anybody interested in Icelandic history or culture.
3. Bruarfoss Waterfall
Often referred to as "Iceland's Bluest Waterfall," this waterfall is a true hidden gem nestled within Iceland's most breathtakingly secretive surroundings. Its size may seem little in comparison to other waterfalls, and the sound of its waters flowing over lava rocks transports you to a place of unparalleled tranquility! Its smooth waters produce an ethereal image of the environment, and its sapphire blue hues create a striking contrast with the vivid green of the surrounding moss and the dark lava rocks they slide over. It's a charming spot ideal for photographers and environment enthusiasts looking to get a closer look at Iceland's unspoiled landscape.
4. Geothermal Area Krysuvik
There are several strong hot springs in the Geysir geothermal area. One of them, Strokkur, is a geyser that erupts every five to ten minutes, shooting up to 35 meters. The oldest known active hot spring in the world, "Geysir," is now dormant and is the source of the word "geysir," which now refers to an exploding hot spring.
5. Gullfoss Waterfall
Next, we'll head for The Golden Waterfall, one of Iceland's most magnificent waterfalls! The breathtaking "Golden Falls" are formed when the melting water of Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjökull, pours into a deep canyon. On clear days, you can even see Langjökull in the distance, as the waterfall's mist creates a stunning rainbow effect. This is an ideal spot for a breathtaking photo opportunity!
6. Kerid Crater
Kerid is a volcanic crater well-known for its striking color contrast. This 6.500-year-old volcano crater in South Iceland is the ideal side trip from the Golden Circle. Picture yourself positioned above a crater formed by volcanic eruptions, where distinctive red volcanic rocks cascade down a slope that is 270 meters in circumference, 170 meters broad, and 55 meters deep. Visitors can get a closer look at this shallow lake, which still has much of its caldera intact, by taking a short trek along the crater's edge. The minerals in the surrounding soil give blue water its aquamarine hue. Bright green moss envelops the lake, save for the cliffs of red volcanic rocks. Reykjanes peninsula and Langjökull Glacier are both located in the Western Volcanic Zone, which features Kerid, one of Iceland's three most recognizable volcanic craters.
7. Reykjavik
We will be heading back to Reykjavik downtown at around 5 p.m., although the order of our itinerary and the time of our return could alter depending on the state of the roads and the weather.

We went on a Golden Circle tour with Bjorn and it was the best tour of our trip. Timely pick up and drop. Amazing insights into the culture of Iceland, onboard Icelandic music.

The best part was that he explained to us everything about the different locations and gave us ample time to explore ourselves too. He also told us about the Vikings. Had ample breaks and great suggestions from him. He was very kind to us and the tour was well planned, helping us cover many locations in Iceland.

I am happy to have chosen Troll Expeditions and have Bjorn as our guide.

Wonderful tour! Bjorn was a great guide—provided a lot of information about the country, culture, and surroundings. We made a lot of extra stops, which was a fun bonus. The tour bus was comfy and conveniently outfitted with wifi. Tour stops were quick, but enough time to take pictures and enjoy the surroundings. If you’re only here for a short trip, it’s a great overview of many wonderful sites. Would recommend!

Out Troll guide was Bjorn, he was very knowledgeable, pointing out areas on interest on our journey. It was certainly a full day of sight seeing and to ensure we saw everything Bjorn informed us if how long we had at each location. He even took photos for you in front of the sights too if you wanted!
We'll definitely book a tour with Troll again.

This was our boys’ first time abroad. We wanted an easy introduction to Iceland before venturing east on the ring road. This day tour with Bjorn did not disappoint. Great sights, thoughtful narration, and a good balance of driving and being out of the bus.
