The opportunity to experience a tour of a lifetime.

Understanding Belfast's troubled history with a honestly presented political tour by Republican and Loyalist ex-political prisoners. Discover a side of Belfast you won't find in the Tourist books, We invite you to walk the streets of the city on both sides of the Peace Wall with the men and women who have served time in prisons of Northern Ireland for standing up for their beliefs. Republican and Loyalist ex-prisoners will share their own personal stories and the effects on their communities and explain the murals that tell the local history and culture of each area. The only tour to give you two truly opposing views of 'The Troubles' through the streets of West Belfast. A portion of the tours proceeds goes to working with local children in cross community projects.

Our tour was given by Jack and Mark, who both had interesting stories to tell. We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the conflict and hear different perspectives. However, it was not necessary to take over 3 hours - considering how little ground was covered, the same information could have been given in 90 minutes. A lot of repetition on both sides of the peace wall.

As with many reviewers we had Robert and Mark as our guides. We found Robert to be a very easy person to like and engage with. His stories brought me to tears on several occasions as he seems to genuinely want a peaceful solution for all. Mark was very informative but his story felt less personal and more negative. I sort of ‘get’ why this would be but it did make the second half of the tour harder to engage fully with. I’d have been interested to hear Marks back story. As a completely neutral Scottish lady who grew up in the 70s this tour was really enlightening as when you are a child watching a one sided narrative of what’s going on in the British press it can be hard to fully appreciate both sides of the story. So thank you to both Robert and Mark for telling your stories and giving a little more perspective.

A fantastic tour, probably one of the best that I've taken part in. It was tough hearing some of the stories, but it's well worth doing if you want to hear about the how life was like in Northern Ireland. Jack was great in the first part of the tour.

We had been greatly looking forward to this tour, taking a day trip from Dublin to participate. The tour was in two parts. The purpose is to delve into the causes and consequences of the sectarianviolenceof Northern Ireland. The first half was led by an ex-IRA, Paul, giving his perspectives on the past 50 years. He shared his story in ways that we could understand. Frankly, I would have given his portion a 5+. The second portion was led by Sean, an ex-British military officer. Unfortunately, he shared his perspectives by repetitive distribution. We had to walk away from the tour before it was done. This was unfortunate, because Sean had some valid points to make, which were obscured by his racur.

A fascinating experience which was excellent and one I would highly recommend to others who want to hear about the history of these communities and people involved . Our tour guides Gerry and Mark were first class and gave us a wonderful insight into the past and what could lie ahead in the future . Both were happy to answers all questions and got everyone involved in the walk . Great value for money as well ,

Really interesting tour around both the Catholic and Protestant areas of West Belfast, spoken from the perspective of those who fought on opposite sides of the conflict. They both spoke of why the conflict started and what grew from it. Both guides were very knowledable and happy to answer any question you had.

Authentic point of view from each side of the conflict by people who fought in the war. I learned a lot and was surprised by what I heard and saw. Highly recommended.

On our last day we booked a train from Dublin to hear the perspective on 'The Troubles ' over a 3 hour walking tour
What an education and fascinating tour. Both guides lived through and participated in the times of IRA, Finn Sein vs. Ulsters. There is a six-gated wall still standing in Belfast to separate the Protestant and the Catholics. Their resentment is palpable. Highly recommend!! We also enjoyed the Hercules pub at lunch and Kelly's at dinner before a comfortable train ride back to Dublin.

This was a really informative and interesting tour. Our first guide Gerard was my favourite of the two. He took us round the catholic side of the wall, telling his personal story as well as that of others. It was clear how well liked and known he is in the community as many adults and children waved and greeted him.
Our second guide (on the Protestant side) was a lot less positive but still informative and enjoyable.
The start of the tour is about a 30 minute walk from the town centre and the tour itself takes 3 hours but is a manageable walking pace with many stops along the way.
