We had a great time with Emily our guide! Fantastic driver and teller of tall Scottish tales that we really enjoyed. She navigated the hairpin turn unbelievably well despite tons of oncoming vehicles and was cheerful and fun the entire trip. She also played great Scottish music (or “Scottish adjacent”) throughout the trip which added a lot of fun.

Torver was a fantastic guide with lots of information and stories to share.

The train windows were very misty so we were unable to really see the attractions.

Scenic, casual well paced tour highlighting the best of the Ise of Skye. You definately want Sophie as your guide, her skill behind the wheel and entertaining historical tips are second to none! Accommodations comfortable and an outstanding homemade full Scottish breakfast started each day. Made lemonade out of lemons when the bus broke down as gave us more time to explore, Did not miss taking the Ferry. Gorgeous mountain and historical town, monument stops. Would recommend for couples.

The first two days of our Highland Explorer tour were great. Emily was an excellent guide. She’s fun, funny and calm in any situation. Her driving was great and my sister and I throughly enjoyed our experience with her. If weren’t for Emily and our rescue driver Jenny, the last day of our tour would have been a nightmare. Our guides made all the difference. Emily
is the type of friendly, cool person I would want to hang out with on any regular day because she’s just so chill, kind and nice.
The only thing(s) that didn’t go our way were the Jacobite Stream Train and our drive back to Edinburgh. We paid extra for the train, and it wasn’t the stream train. It was a boring, regular train that smelled.
On the last day, about 90 mins into our journey the bus overheated and broke down. We were on the side of a highland road for at least an hour, until Jenny, another driver ahead of us circled back to rescue us. We then had to wait about 3 hours at the rewilding centre while Emily, heroically went back to the stranded bus to grab our stuff with a new driver from another company. Because of this we missed out on our time at Loch Ness (we had a rushed 20 min picture stop). Then it was a mad dash back to the Edinburgh. We arrived around 8pm, with some people rushing off to the airport to miss their flights.
Again, we want to stress how wonderful Emily, Jenny and the rest of our rescuers were, but the last day was definitely a little disappointing.

Trip felt rushed, many stops were missed as the guide complained about traffic often and refused to stop. “Hogwarts train” turned out to be a regular train with nobody informing us - the regular train is conveniently around 3x less than the steam train we paid for, with no refund (surprise surprise). There was zero formal itinerary given, making it difficult to plan your day. Several individuals on the trip tried to eat at local restaurants during the evening but weren’t able to as all of the restaurants in Portree required reservations in advance - this was not told to us and instead we were encouraged to eat at the hotel partnered with the tour, for 30 gbp each. If you’re from Canada (we are) that’s $120 per night for 2. MUCH more expensive than the local restaurants. The stops were short and there was little opportunity to explore as the tour ended later in the evening, after all of the shops in Portree had closed. If you are looking for a true bus tour where you are stopped for 15-60 minutes to take photos then this is the tour for you. This tour may be good for the elderly or inexperienced travellers. If you want to walk down to the coastal areas, stroll along and look at shops, or eat at local places then save your money and plan this tour yourself. We wished we had.

Jenny was a fabulous tour guide taking us through the Isle of Skye! On the bus, she was informative but also played great music. She was prompt, considerate, and friendly.

The tour itself was beautiful and we saw many unique landscapes. The only bummer was the Jacobite steam train wasn’t running due to maintenance. We took a diesel train instead.
