The former concentration camp Sachsenhausen was the first purposely built camp to be established as a center for terror, fear, persecution, torture, experimentation and murder. Initially it imprisoned those the Nazi's deemed to be racially, socially or politically inferior. On your way to the former concentration camp pass through the local town of Oranienburg and learn how the population supported and benefited from its operation. Your expert, licensed guide will accompany you through the former prison/punisment cells, infirmaries, barracks, gas chamber and crematoria. Learn stories of valour and solidarity amongst the inmates in the face of an almost hopeless situation. During our tour you will visit the Inspectorate of Camps, from this innocuous looking building the Nazi's controlled the entire concentration camp sytem of Europe.
For every ticket sold we donate €2 towards the upkeep and future restoration of the former concentration camp

Dr James Thomas was an amazing tour guide; personable, precise & detailed in his explanations. I highly recommend being with him on tour if possible. He had an innate ability to connect every site and incident with historical detail that was both interesting and revealing.

The extent of walking was not adequate explained. Also, while the guide was very nice, he simply talked too much.

A very informative tour, although I have visited Auschwitz before and there is more to see there I didn’t come away with as much information. Our guide Xavier on this tour explained in depth how Hilter and the nazis came to power and how many atrocities happened long before the war began

My tour guide Xavier was very knowledgeable and great to hang around with. He brought us to the camp in a way where the heavy subject wasn’t heart wrenching and you feel for what happened here.

Exceptional tour with Xavier. Stories told with reverence, respect and the picture painted of what occurred at the camp. Highly recommend this tour.
