We visited this museum while in New Orleans and it is worth the hype and EVERY penny. I do want to say that in order to experience everything this museum has to offer you need 2 days and they do offer a 2 day ticket. We did not do any add--ons and was there for 6 hours and did not get to see everything.

I can say that I learned from this experience. There were details given in the exhibits that the history books and classes in school do not share or touch. SO much behind the scene information, it was incredible. There are many different forms of media and my 4 year old was kept entertained the entire time, no complaints and he didn't want to leave.

The section with the video interviews of the concentration camp survivors is done very well and if you do not leave without tears in your eyes then you were not truly listening.

We had lunch at the Soda Fountain and it was good for the money.

There is an interaction piece where you are given a 'dog tag' to carry with you throughout the museum. This dog tag is linked to a person from the era and you follow their story throughout the war at kiosks in each section of the museum. Moving to follow and learn about a person linked to the war effort.

A must if in New Orleans!

Fantastic at telling the story of the US in WWII - Pacific, Africa/Italy, and France/Germany. I am also so impressed by all the oral histories they not only gathered, but have throughout the museum for anyone to listen to. The only downside was not enough listening stations. (And if we had listened to everything, we'd have been there for days or weeks.) But it's there - preserved, and available.

Great experience with pathetic historic events. I was in tears. Reading about the stories of WWII, seeing some sample tools, weapons or uniforms. Learning how committed the people of old were was so impt to me as a person. The phrase " we are in together " made me proud of the military culture and organization. Kudos to all those who served, and still serving. God bless you all.
War is not ideal. We all should go in for peace and amicable resolutions.

This museum is very well done and takes you through the entirety of World War II.

It uses a lot of sound and video for the exhibit. It could be overstimulating for some.

The exhibits are set up in themed campaigns and have a ton of artifacts and lots of oral histories. There are graphic images throughout, but it tells the full story of the war from pre-US involvement through liberation and victory.

It can be emotional at times and really impresses on you the enormity of the war from the effort to supply the military, train and send men to war, the toll it took and the cost in lives.

The movie Beyond All Boundaries is a terrific 4D experience narrated by Tom Hanks.

We spent 3 hours here. Could easily have done another 2 or more.

The size of this museum is amazing. It takes you through every event, respectfully, orderly and in depth. I wondered why a WWII Museum would be in Louisiana - but found that the exhibits take you out of yourself and into the events as they unfold - it didn't matter where the building was - the experience was excellent and the exhibits were very well planned out.

You will need to plan a whole day to visit here. Plan to get lots of footsteps. There are multiple floors and wings and so much history you will want to just take your time going through it

Really impressive museum. We spent almost the entire day here even though we'd only originally planned to be there for a few hours and we still didn't get to see everything. It is definitely worth setting aside time during your trip to New Orleans to visit this museum.

At almost 50 dollars you expect a lot and you get it at this museum. They put the money into computer and video presentations. Unfortunately there is not enough time to see it all in one day. They give you the option of an extra day for 11 dollars more but if you don’t live in New Orleans this in an unlikely option. The museum tries to do too much. Beginning with pre war sentiment, enlistment, and basic training was interesting but that means leaving other stuff out. The part that women and Afro Americans played has been ignored for so long that much is given to this. The Japanese- American treatment is also given an exhibit. A lot to go through and we haven’t even gotten to the war yet. The museum focused almost exclusively on America. Crumbs are thrown to England and Russia is completely absent. D- day was crucial to the war but the exhibition focuses too much on that. The concentration camps are given an exhibit but perhaps that could be given in another museum. It might have been interesting to see and even enter a tank or airplane but there are few things like this to see. A few planes are hanging from the ceiling but not much else. The movie that they sell so much was fun but only mildly interesting and just repeats what you see in the museum. I had the pleasure to see the National Pacific war museum in Texas. Much smaller, cheaper, and better. 5 stars. I left the National WW ll exhausted and a little disappointed.
