Went there in earlier July. Weather is good and not too hot, and there is not crowded. The tour guide Katia is super kind and considerate. Her friendly demeanour and willingness to answer all of our question made the trip thoroughly enjoyable.

Very crowded!
Would be nice to visit when there were no other people there.
The train there from Barcelona and the clog train up to the monastery was great.

Enjoyable trip just 35 minutes outside Barcelona. There's a bus ride up to the monastery where the guide provides a brief history and gets you into the Cathedral. You're given free time to go to the farmer's market, museum (extra cost) or the souvenir shop or the funicular (extra cpst) up to the viewpoint at the top of the hill. You're providing a sweet bread and a taste of the local cheese and honey treat before taking a cogwheel train halfway down the mountain to meet the bus and return to Barcelona. It's only a few hours but it covers all the highlights and history and is enjoyable. The liquer tasting was a corner of the souvenir shop where you tasked 4 liquers and the actual amount is about a teaspoon but enough so you know if you like it. I enjoyed the trip, even on a cold day.

Our trip to Montserrat was great! Paco, our guide, was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He was also very accommodating as my mother used a walker and moved a little slower than the rest of the group. We had a lovely time!
