I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Ioan/ John was so knowledgable and clearly into the history of his city. This was probably the best tour I have EVER been on and I really enjoyed the way he weaved his own story into the tour. I really did not want the tour to end. If i could find my tours with Ioan / John, I'd sign up in a heart beat. Highly recommend!

A very educational and memorable tour by Andreea. The story is skillfully connected to the locations and she can also add some personal touches. I would recommend to anyone looking for a crash course into the peculiarities of Romanian communist history.

Andrea combines the story with personal examples, which makes the story very illustrative and vivid, communism narrated from a real experience and not from books, I loved the journey

Wow!
Review of The Real tour of Communism
Reviewed 4 days ago
We had a four day trip to Bucharest, and thought we would learn a little about the history while we were there... wow!
Amazing tour, we all learnt so much about the history, the people, the way of life everything you could possibly need to know.

Our tour guide was incredible, answering all our questions and going into excellent detail, and holding our attention at every stop with attention to detail that was second to none.
We left the tour and had to sit in a bar after just digest everything we had learned!

Such a beautiful city, with such rich history and the most shocking part was how recent everything happened. It dawned on us that while we all dancing to Wham and Duran Duran without a care in the world, this country was going through pure hell.

I cannot express how important it is to learn about the history of this wonderful city / Country, and this tour is an absolute must.

Andrea gave us an excellent background on the history of communism in Romania and how it affected all aspects of life in the country. This gave us a great context for subsequent sites we visited in Bucharest.

Andrea was a marvelous guide. Because of her family she could relate to life in Bucharest during communist times, and because of her education, she was extremely knowledgeable about that period—the politics, life, the economy, etc. we highly recommend her!!
