Basically learn to cook local food in a local home. She is lovely and welcoming. Does not speak any English, but there is a tour guide/translator who is lovely and available for the whole thing. Highly recommend if you want to see the way cappadocians live and learn about the food.

This is a must-do experience when in Cappadocia. We were fortunate to have the best guide, Gonul, who was so friendly and knowledgeable. She first took us to the market in Urgup to purchase some produce. We then drove to our host’s home, both she and the home were lovely. Our host was very warm and welcoming. We had a great time making delicious, authentic Turkish food and chatting about a variety of topics. We ate the best eggplant we have ever had in our lives. I know that everyone comes to visit the sites, as did we, but if you have a little extra time this is a peaceful experience where you have the opportunity to connect with others.

If u want to know the culture of Turkey make friends with people. What can be a better way to do it than cooking and sharing a meal.
Serife welcomed me warmly to her home along with her daughter. We cut vegetables together in her kitchen and had great conversations with Kadir being an excellent translator and sous chef. He explained each step of the cooking. Kadir also has a secret talent that he shares if u are in the class.
At the end of all the peeling, cutting and cooking, I knew a lot more about Turkish culture, cuisine and also where locals shop.We made yogurt Soup, Karni Yarik (eggplant kebab with vegetable toppings), Turkish Rice and Bulamac (slurry) dessert and turkish coffeecoffee with fresh and some home made ingredients.
Ofcourse we ate it too after all the cooking. I am glad I had this experience which is not the usual touristy experience yet an enriching one.

During my trip to Cappadocia I had the chance to attend a cooking class in Turkish/Cappadocian cuisine. It was a great experience. Our cook Vijdan, a friendly and lovely older lady, introduced us to the dishes. I was able to help prepare the dishes. They were not particularly difficult for an amateur like me to prepare. I was given the recipes and will try to make them myself at home. Erkan gave us a lot of support as a translator and driver. Thank you very much for your hard work and commitment.

During our recent trip to Cappadocia, my husband and I had the pleasure of participating in a cooking class that exceeded all our expectations. Hosted by the talented hosts Beyza and Ali Can (as a note: The name Can in Turkish is John in English) this experience became one of the true highlights of our visit to this enchanting region.

From the moment we arrived at the cooking class, we felt an immediate sense of warmth and hospitality. Beyza and Ali Can’s genuine passion for Turkish cuisine shone through as they warmly greeted us and introduced us to the array of dishes we would be preparing. We started the evening with tea and great conversation.

The cooking class offered a hands-on experience, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the preparation of traditional Turkish dishes. We cooked home-made Pasta Soup, Humus, Islim Kebab and Turkish Rice.

The atmosphere of the cooking class was warm, inviting, and filled with laughter. Beyza and Ali Can created a relaxed environment where everyone felt comfortable asking questions and experimenting with flavors. They were attentive to us, ensuring that our culinary journey was a success.

We gathered around the table to savor the fruits of our labor. The flavors of the dishes we had prepared were nothing short of extraordinary. Each bite transported us to the heart of Turkish cuisine, with its distinct blend of spices, fresh ingredients, and authentic flavors.

Our cooking class experience with Beyza and Ali Can in Cappadocia was an absolute delight. Their expertise, genuine passion, and warm hospitality made it an unforgettable culinary adventure. We left the class with not only new cooking skills but also cherished memories that will forever be etched in our minds.

Erkan picked us up at our hotel at 4pm and took us to his friends' (Beyza and Con) apartment, where Beyza was already prepping for cooking. We helped peel some eggplants and other easy cooking tasks, and enjoyed the rich seasoning aromas already forming in the kitchen. Erkan prepared some tea and we talked about travel - among other things Erkan leads travel tours - and how Turkiye's imminent election run-off was shaping up. Dinner was excellent and shared by Erkan, Beyza, Beyza's husband Con (arrived later as he was working), and my wife and I. Excellent and humorous conversations came easily, and delicious tea made the post-meal chat even more enjoyable. Several hours flew by and we reluctantly left our outstanding and very courteous hosts far too soon - but politely we had to! Con drove us back to our hotel's doorstep. I highly recommend this experience as a must-do complement to any Turkiye trip in the Cappadocia region. Thank you Erkan, Beyza, and Con!

Basa is an amazing cook and very patient! She and her husband opened their own home to the two of us. We made delicious yogurt-based soups and meatballs wrapped in eggplant. Their friend Kadir picked us up from our hotel and took us to the market. All three were so interesting to talk to and it was our best meal in Turkey. Beautiful hosts, home, hospitality and delicious food! It will always be a favorite memory for my husband and I because it was so intimate to do this class in their own home away from touristy activities. The site did not allow me to post photos, but we took dozens of the wonderful food and hosts.
