Hawaii Joe was a very knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour.
The different meals we enjoyed very much with great input by Joe. His food knowledge and explanations were very good.
The sightseeing in between the Izakaya’s was most informative.

Would highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite things I did in Tokyo! Ayaka was so fun and knowledgeable about Japanese cuisine and culture. Not all food tours are the same but this one was one of my favorites!

The communication between Andrea and ourselves was excellent. The other people on our tour were all very friendly.
The choice of restaurants were very good and varied. The food was interesting and varied.
The walking part of the tour was not too onerous but helped build an appetite before the next restaurant.

Amazing tour and very knowledgeable tour guides! Favourite Izakaya was Yabaru, as someone who lives in Okinawa, the food is authentic and very tasty!

Hawaii Joe was awesome. We started at an Izakaya that made wonderful Gyoza. We tasted some amazing sashimi and drank plenty of sake. We ended with some Okinawa specialities, you get more than you pay for in food. We were so full at the end of the night in a good way. My advice is to arrive hungry, we had a great time, Joe showed us all the odd spots in Shinjuku including the fascinating Golden Gai and showed us around the cool and more exotic spots with matching stories. This tour was amazing because Tokyo is such a vast city, it’s hard to know where to go to find quality food (google is only so helpful when there are SO many places to choose from), it can be overwhelming to say the least. All of the places we went to eat and drink at, were very clearly places that locals frequented, and ALL of the food was so delicious. As a couple we love being able to experience culture when we travel, and the best way to do that is through food and drink. This tour did that and more. One of has a food sensitivity, and Joe went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated! Hawaii Joe was so informative, and such a fun guy, the tour would not have been the same without him. We walked down some alleyways that we would have never found, and got to see parts of Tokyo that we would have never known about. We would highly recommend this tour. Thanks Hawaii Joe! :)

We had an absolutely INCREDIBLE time on the food tour! Hawaii Joe was mega-informative, clearly knew his food and drinks and my goodness he knew a lot about places to go in Shinjuku!! We left absolutely stuffed (12/10 on Joe’s fullness scale) and pretty wobbly from the drinks too. A perfect way to experience some of the best food Tokyo has to offer (and more generally some of the best I’ve ever had), see sights and experience food you just wouldn’t be able to find without it.
Atsu-Shi (apologies for poor spelling) was also helping us on the tour and he was so lovely, again with loads of great tips around Tokyo!
I should also add that Joe is hilarious and the whole thing was so much fun, we got on really well with everyone on the tour and the whole thing was a great fun (and a bit mad in the best way) experience.
It was capped off by Joe sharing a massively extensive list of recommendations for Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Given how amazing everywhere we went was we’ll try and see as many as possible!!! Thanks so much for an amazing time!

Andrea was our tour guide and she was amazing. She was casual but very knowledgeable about Japanese food and culture. We went to four Izakaya places and also a tour of a few large streets in Shinjuku. It was a light walk and we learned a ton about the culture. The food was good as well.
