The kayaking área was too crowded, there were too many people in the party , so for first time kayaking and the lack of light on the Chanel made the kayaking part of the trip uncomfortable.

This tour IS NOT for the physically weak or the inexperienced!!!

We took the Fri. 6/21/24, late tour.

This was a lot of fun! Especially the kayaking through the mangroves at night! What an amazing experience! In my opinion, this part of the tour beats out the bioluminescence at the bay! It was cool to see the incandescent lights in the water, but ayaking through the wild mangroves was a far more of amazing and exilerating experience.

I feel like this must be said because I believe most people that sign up for this have absolutely no idea what they're signing up for and frankly have no business getting on the water with this tour!!

This is EXTREMELY physically intense! It also takes some knowledge and experiencing on how to handle and control a kayak. Most people on the tour with us had ABSOLUTELY no idea what they were doing and therefore had no business being there! Their inexperience and extremely low physical ability caused such a hindrance on the group overall it made things 10x more difficult! Their struggling troughout the experience takes away SO MUCH from the others who have the physical ability and experience that it almost makes it a horrible time. I don't blame the tour operator for this though. I blame the stupidity of most other people! Which, unfortunately is common no matter where you go!
I think the tour group really has something here but, they need to find a way to separate skill levels and weed out those who are too weak.
Perhaps tie off the weak and inexperienced to guides, so they can simply be pulled along and just sit back and watch. Rather than be allowed to just paddle aimlessly and frantically through the water, causing mayhem and frustrationfor everyone else!
Overall a great and absolutely amazing experience, if it's for you! If you're not physically capable or experienced with a kayak, STAY AWAY! You will not have fun and you will ruin it for everyone else!!

We had Monolo as our tour guide. The experience was amazing. The team really does help making sure everyone’s doing good while kayaking. Highly recommend this tour with Monologue and the team

We have a great time! Really want to give a really positive review for Christine for handling everything. We had some tricky logistics but Christine and her team went above-and-beyond to accommodate.

When we arrived, we really got to experience the glowing bay in all its glory. A bucket list item completed! We had a great time and definitely had lifelong memories.

Huge thank you to Christine for making this possible!

As someone who was eager to do this tour and try out kayaking for the first time, I was very disappointed by the experience. As a Puerto Rican, I was disappointed by how rude the tour guides were and how they truly did not embody the friendly nature of the people of our island. When the group was asked by Manolo, the lead tour guide, who had been kayaking before and who hadn't been, the lack of experienced kayakers clearly annoyed/frustrated him and the rest of the guides as it was felt throughout the tour. If you want a group of supportive and encouraging tour guides, this is definitely not the tour for you. Kayakers were being yelled at and told to "figure it out" on their own in the pitch blackness - honestly, it was total chaos getting down the river/mangroves leading to the lagoon. In addition, the tiny little glow-in-the-dark bracelets they stick to the front and back of the kayaks do absolutely nothing in regards to you trying to see who's ahead and who's behind. I understand into our to see the bioluminescence you need total darkness, however, the least they could have done was provide better light (maybe headband lights or something to that magnitude) coming down/up the river which truly was the issue, as people were crashing into trees and into each other. The only two good things about this tour were that they were one of the only tours that provided pick-up and drop-off in San Juan and that we were able to see the bioluminescence - that was it. Truthfully, if you are staying in San Juan, I would recommend driving to Fajardo on your own or taking an Uber to access a better tour because at the end of the day, the complimentary transportation wasn't worth getting scolded or belittled for the price you pay for this tour.

Great experience. The bay was really neat and the star show was beautiful the evening we went. Guides did a great job. Worked well with 8 and 10 year olds who rode with an adult. Was very dark on the paddle to and from the bay.

I was extremely disappointed with this excursion. When we arrived at our destination we stood around for at least a half an hour without an explanation. Finally my daughter asked why we were waiting and we were told we had to wait for another tour group to finish. The guides explained how to paddle and to follow the yellow rings that were on the front and back of the kayaks. It was so dark we were not able to see all the hanging branches or even the sides of the canal area. People including myself were running into the walls of the canal area directly. Many people were hitting our kayak. It was impossible to see the luminating water because we were too worried about steering our kayaks so we wouldn't get hurt. I got hit in the arm and head with branches several times. The guy in my kayak got hit in his eye glasses and almost lost his glasses. Both of us had been kayaking many times so we were not weak paddlers. By the time we got to our destination we were there for 15 minutes and told we could splash the water or put our feet in the water. We were explained the scientific reasoning of the bioluminous area at then showed star constellations with a laser light. The paddle back was worse because a group with red rings kept plowing into us and it was extremely difficult to get the group into a single file line. It was not enjoyable. I never write negative reviews but I feel like I need to be honest. I don't want other people to waste their hard earned money on this tour like I did. When we all got out of our kayaks 1 woman had a bleeding cut by her eye. I won't speak for others but most people were relieved to be back on land. I booked this tour through Viator which I have used in the past and always had good results until now. Viator is too good of a tour group to associate with inferior tour groups.

The worst excursion I’ve ever done! My husband and I spent over $200 to get yelled at and crashed into by other kayaks every few minutes, we did not feel our money was well spent.

We did see the bioluminescence without the tarp, and it was very beautiful which is why I give the tour 2 stars instead of 1. However, the rest of the tour was chaotic, disorganized and stressful. It should have been mentioned before booking the tour that kayaking experience WAS necessary, a simple 5-minute demonstration was not enough. When I heard that they wanted 25+ kayaks to row in a straight line I already had a feeling that this was going to be a disaster. We spent 30 minutes being crashed into by multiple kayaks and getting yelled at to paddle faster. One of the staff members kept yelling at me for the way I was turning the direction of my kayak (which I have been doing for many years), meanwhile I was trying to turn the boat and slow us down to prevent us from hitting the kayak in front of us. My husband was able to understand the tour guides as they said rude things about each other and the kayakers in Spanish. By the time we got to see the bioluminescence I was so frustrated it was hard to really enjoy the moment. On the way back, we ended up crashing into another kayak who made a dead stop and ended up turning our boat around. The tour guides who were berating us on the way to the bay were suddenly nowhere to be found on the way back when we actually needed help. Luckily, we ended up being able to turn ourselves around and proceeded the rest of the way.

This is a tourist trap and money grab. The company and staff do not care about the customer’s experience at all, they just want to book as many people as possible to make their money.

Do not book this tour, save your money and plan something else, we wish we did!
