1. Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic)
Immerse yourself in the past of Barcelona and wander through the narrow streets and squares of the mazy Gothic Quarter of Barcelona Old Town. This big, open space became an indispensable meeting point in the middle of the Gothic Quarter and its narrow streets. Furnished with the elegant fountain de Tres Gracias and beautiful lanterns designed by a very young Gaudí on his first public assignment. 7. El Born
El Born is maybe one of the few labyrinths in which you would not mind to get lost. Breathe in the unique atmosphere of this neighborhood, known for its fusion of old and new buildings. Stroll through very trendy squares where young and old love to be, and enjoy historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar or Palau de la Música Catalana.
8. Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar
The Basilica Santa Maria del Mar is considered the real cathedral of the Old Town since it has been founded and constructed in Medieval times by the people of the neighborhood themselves. It is an emblem of the Catalan Gothic art and a must-to-see spot of the Gothic Quarter.
9. Palace of Catalan Music
End your walking tour near Palau de la Música Catalana and get attracted by this architectural pearl of Catalan modernism. The building, designed by Lluís Domenèch i Montaner, the teacher of Gaudi, is the only concert hall declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The architect built this wonderful music box where all the applied arts are combined: Sculpture, mosaic, stained glass and wrought iron.

Very informative walk through the Gothic Quarter of the city. Edward, our tour guide really knew his stuff. Highly recommended. Don't let the time of 2.5 hours put you off, it was a steady walk throughout.

JC was our tour guide on a private tour. He was fantastic! My husband and I were wowed by his incredible knowledge of the history of Barcelona. JC is personable, funny and entertaining. Jose was great and very knowledgeable about Barcelona! We learned so much about the history of the city and were shown many “Easter eggs” that taught us more about the city than your average tour. I would highly recommend going this route as there are many benefits to a private tour.

In just a couple of hours we saw and learned about the Roman origins of the city interspersed with some of the key milestones to the Barcelona we know today.

Our guide Alba was very passionate and knowledgeable, sharing some of Picasso and Gaudi's favourite spots in the city alongside the history of the Cathedral and it's gargoyles.

Highly recommend!

Great tour especially if you like waking and understanding the history and culture of the old city. Olga our guide was great in navigating and providing the great highlights, insights and answered our questions. This tour does not get you in to some of the historical sites but you can go back later to see those on your own with enough background from the tour.

My wife and I joined the Old Town/Gothic Quarter tour with Alba. She is an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Barcelona. We had an excellent time and I would certainly recommend it for anyone interested in a guided tour of this historic area of Barcelona.

The group was big, the English was bad. The details were bad, mostly what you could have picked up from having read one paragraph on wikipedia. The best part of the group was ditching the group at the end. Other guides would walk by and one story from them was more interesting and told with more detail than this group. Waste of money. Wander around for free and learn more.
