1. Montana de Montserrat
The Rocky Massif of Montserrat has been declared as Natural Park in 1987, and characterised by the rounded shape of its peaks. This incredible 4000-foot wonder is easily recognizable by its ''serrated'' top from which it got his name. Once you reach the monastery, you have plenty of options and your guide will always adjust to your interests. We invite you to take an easy walk of around 30 min to enjoy one of the most astonishing views of the natural park, but if you wish you can also decide to enjoy other activities that the mountain offers.
2. Abadia de Montserrat
Visit the Basilica of Montserrat, house of the serene image of the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, a poly chrome Romanesque carving dating from the 12th century. The legend says that in the year 880 some shepherd boys found a statue of the black madonna, the "Moreneta", in a grotto. A chapel was built on this site that soon became a place of pilgrimage.
3. Funicular de Sant Joan
Decide with your small group of 8 pax if you want to enjoy a ride in the rack railway that will bring you at the top of the holy mountain. Enjoy astonishing views along the way.
4. Sant Jeroni
Reach the peak of the holy mountain to enjoy a bird's eye view of the entire Montserrat Monastery and of the natural park. On clear days, you will enjoy uninterrupted views of the whole of Catalunya.
5. Aeri de Montserrat
If you skipped the funicular, you can enjoy the cable car, a breathtaking journey over the Llobregat River and Valley, up the mountain and right up to Montserrat Monastery. The cable car first started running in 1930. It travels at a speed of 5 metres per second and at a gradient of up to 45%. This is a trip that is not for the faint heart - you will be travelling 1350 metres up the mountain in a small hanging car! However, if you are not afraid of heights, you will be in for a really memorable and rewarding experience.
6. Montserrat Museum
If you wish, you can also decide to visit the Montserrat museum. It has an important section of early paintings, spanning the 13th to the 18th centuries, with works by El Greco, Caravaggio as well as a large collection of Catalan paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries that includes major names such as Fortuny, Rusiñol, Casas, Picasso and Dalí but also of French impressionism such as Chagall, Braque, Le Corbusier, Miró, Dalí and Picasso.

We had a fantastic trip with Javi as our tour guide on our small group half day tour to Montserrat. Javi is very knowledgeable and welcoming. He made sure everyone’s questions were answered and that the tour was carried out in the most professional yet personable way. The hotel pick up and drop off allowed for stress free coming and going. I also received a text from the tour operator with Javi’s name and phone number the day before the trip in the event we needed to contact him.

This was an excellent tour. Javi was friendly, funny, and very easy to converse with. He went out of his way to accommodate us with our requests and we are a group of 8 with several kids. The kids also liked him very much and he treated them as if they were adults which they appreciated very much.

Jose was a fantastic tour guide and the destination is totally worth it. Our teenage kids really enjoyed our time and the tour. It was fun to explore and take the cable car up the mountain for amazing views. The local cheese and honey food vendors were a pleasant surprise and they were delightful to chat with about their crafts.

Our guide Carlos was right on time, he was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip! We would have never seen where he took us on our own, his English was PERFECT, I cannot say enough good things about him, he had some extra time that day ( I pd him extra happily, he took us to a fabulous tapas bar, I insisted he join my wife and me, couldn’t have been more fun!
PS IM taking my daughter to Barcelona in Aug, and I’ll hook up with him , FOR SURE!
He’s the very best guide. Knows the city perfectly!
He made our trip to Barcelona a huge success!!!

Love the fact that there’s a pick up from the hotel, however it was stressful that the viator site said my hotel was out of bound for pick up. I had to chat with people to confirm all was good. The site was great, José was fabulous. Very impressive

Carlos was an excellent driver and guide. The scenery was beautiful and I would highly recommend this tour. We had plenty of time to walk around and sightsee once we arrived. It was so nice to be in a smaller group and not one of the big tour buses. The van was also very nice & comfortable. I think there were 7 in our group.
