Day1: 60km (1000m altitude difference) You drive from Kyoto to the north, where the Hanase Pass is waiting for you. The ascent to the pass height of 750 m is your biggest challenge. The road to Miyama leads you through small villages and is mostly traffic-free. You follow a river and climb the Sasari Pass before arriving in Miyama. In Miyama you stroll through the hamlet with its thatched houses, nestled between vegetable and flower gardens. After the sightseeing, it is only a short drive to your Japanese ryokan accommodation where you can enjoy a hot spring bath and the sophisticated kaiseki cuisine, a true treat for the palate and eyes. Day 2: 70 km (1000 meters altitude) After a traditional Japanese breakfast, continue on small country roads to reach the district of Arashiyama.
