Private Bar time with an authentic Maiko

Private Bar time with an authentic Maiko

While Maikos are a symbol of Kyoto, it is not easy for tourists and even locals to talk with them personally. To arrange a meeting with them, we need to have a long-established relationship with an Okiya which is a maiko house and functions as an agency for them. With Exclusive Kyoto, you can enjoy a private bar time with a maiko, chatting with her and asking questions while enjoying your drink.

Online Japanese tea meditation

Online Japanese tea meditation

This experience will be an online lesson. You will be using ZOOM, so please be prepared for an internet connection. 1 I explain about Japanese tea ceremony. 2 I show you how to make matcha by easy way. It's called "bondemae",this is an abbreviated tea ceremony that does not use authentic tea ceremony utensils such as a tea kettle and ladle, but uses a teapot and tray. 3 Let's try making matcha by yourself. We use teabowl, tea whisk, matcha powder but if you don't have these utensils please prepare these utensils. Please use your favolite bowl. Without tea whisk, you can make tea with milk former, small whisk. If you cannot get matcha powder, please use cocoa powder. In my workshop, the most important things are enjoying making tea and understanding that the Japanese tea ceremony is an active meditation. And you can enjoy the tea meditation with your own utensils anytime you want.

Pure Silver Spoon Making Workshop in Kyoto

Pure Silver Spoon Making Workshop in Kyoto

Would you like to experience traditional Japanese crafts in Kyoto? This workshop is located an 8-minute walk from Shugakuin Imperial Villa. This is a workshop where you can make spoons from pure silver. I think it's rare to find a workshop where you can make cutlery from pure silver. Since ancient times, silver has been considered a talisman to ward off misfortune and evil spirits. There is also a custom of giving a silver spoon to a baby to wish them happiness. Please rest assured that our craftsmen will carefully assist you. Place the finished spoon in a paulownia box. I think it would be great as a souvenir for yourself or a gift for a loved one!
