Tār, meaning wire, refers to the technique of inlaying fine flattened wire made of brass, silver, or gold into wood, a craft known as Tarkashi. The artist leading this workshop learned this intricate art from his brother and guru at the age of 14.
Over the years, the artist has mastered the craft, creating numerous works on Sheesham wood and other mediums. Eventually, the artist established their own workshop and has since trained many artisans in this traditional technique.
Under the artist's guidance, participants will gain a deep understanding of the intricate details and techniques involved in Tarkashi.
The workshop includes a live demonstration, showcasing each step of the elaborate process. Participants will learn about the different materials, techniques, and tools used in metal wire inlaying. The artist will also provide insights into where to procure the necessary materials and tools for the craft.
