Whale Watching and Sea Angling Tour

Whale Watching and Sea Angling Tour

Whale Watching Hauganes is the oldest whale watching tour operator in Iceland. We operate two classic Icelandic oak boats that are both spacious and extremely stable here in the still fjord of Eyjafjörður which is well sheltered from the open North Atlantic Ocean. We classify our tours as "slow travel" as you will get the chance of enjoying the beautiful landscape of the fjord along with its wildlife while not feeling in a rush or that you are interrupting the wildlife in any way. Our tours are carbon neutral as we plant one tree for each tour along with blending the oil with bio-diesel made in Akureyri (the capital of North Iceland, just 25 minutes south from us) from frying oils from local restaurants. You will find a restaurant here as well, a campsite, hot tubs down by the black beach of Sandvik and the famous beer-spa here just 5 minutes north from us. We include sea angling in our Whale Watching & Sea Angling tours, something that all fishing enthusiasts should try!

Volcano Hike & Northern Lights Combo Tour

Volcano Hike & Northern Lights Combo Tour

Iceland is the only place on earth where it is possible to combine these fantastic tours; a hike to a live volcanic eruption and an evening aurora hunting tour. Your day starts in the late morning by joining our tour to eruption site at Meradalir. This involves a 1.5-2 hour hike each way over uneven terrain and would be considered of moderate difficulty to the average, reasonably fit person. After you time at the volcano, you will be dropped back to the city where you will have time for dinner and to freshen up before your evening northern lights hunting tour. Our guides, having consulted the aurora forecast of the Icelandic Met Office, will take you to the area most likely to be free of cloud cover and hope to see the aurora´s shimmering light show. We will take you to 2 or 3 locations hoping for the best display. This Northern Lights tour is usually around 4 hours in duration.
