Colorado is part of the Western United States. Colorado is also known as the Mother of Rivers. It is ranked 8th in area, coming in at 269,837 square kilometres with a width of 612 kilometres and a length of 451 kilometres. The state was named after the Colorado River, which Spanish explorers named the Rio Colorado, which means ruddy silt. Colorado has a population of 5.1 million people.
Colorado ranges from the Rocky Mountains, arid plains and deserts, to rivers, lakes, and forests. The summit of Mount Elbert, at an elevation of more than 4,400 meters, in Lake County is just one of the many mountains that make Colorado one of the best states in the Country for Skiing. In the spring the sloops bloom and provide perfect hiking and biking trails.
For fun, many tourists go to Pikes Peak Americas Mountain to be one with nature, or the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. Denver offers an amazing nightlife, and is not too far from the numerous state and national parks in the country.
It's also home to the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Botanical Gardens, and the Denver zoo.
Every Visit to Colorado is as unique as its hundreds of peaks.
