Portland is a major city in the State of Oregon. It has a population of around 600,000 people. The city is renowned for its superior utilisation of land and for the construction of mono rail system. It is in the league of top environmentally conscious cities globally. Portland International Airport is the main airport to the city.
The city is home to the Portland State University, and headquarter's to both Adidas and Hi-Tec Sports others. Intel is the biggest employment generator of the city, whilst there are also many other technology companies are present in the city.
The city has a temperate marine climate, and has it's own extinct volcano. Mount Tabor Park comprises of a volcanic cinder cone called Mount Tabor. Forest Park in the Tualatin Mountains is a wilderness park, and ranks the largest in a city area. Mill Ends Park, the world's smallest park is also situated here. Washington Park has a zoo, children's museum, Japanese garden, forestry museum, memorials, public art, rose garden, amphitheatre, soccer field, tennis courts and various picnic areas.
Over 7,000 rose plants of 550 different varieties are planted in the rose garden of the Washington Park. It is called the International Rose Test Garden. The Tom McCall Waterfront Park is on the banks of the Willamette River. The Tryon Creek State Natural Area has hiking trails, horse trails and a paved bicycle path.
The famous bands of Paul Revere and the Raiders, and The Kingsmen call the city home. The Oregon Ballet Theatre is a famous classical performing arts center in the city.
Other tourist attractions include the Oregon Zoo, the Portland Japanese Garden, The Grotto, the Oaks Amusement Park, the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, Hoyt Arboretum, the Museum of Contemporary Craft, the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, the Pioneer Courthouse, the USS Blueback Memorial, the Williamette Stone and the Lone Fir Cemetery.
