The city of Abbotsford is located in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia. The city has a population of around 133,500 people, whilst the greater metropolitan area is home to just over 177,000. It is the fifth largest municipality within British Columbia, and the largest outside of the Greater Vancouver area.
The land area of Abbotsford is approximately 375 square kilometres. Its southern most boundary is shared with the United States, and the closet US town is Sumas in the State of Washington. On the Canadian side it is bounded by the City of Chilliwack in the east, the Township of Langley in the west, and Fraser River and the District of Mission in the north.
The city enjoys fantastic views of Mount Barker, which are actually in Washington, and the Coast Mountains in the north. There are a number of great attractions to take in at Abbotsford such as the Abbotsford Centre, Xaytem, The Reach Museum, Westminster Abbey, Cultus Lake, the Golden Ears Provincial Park, the BC Farm Museum, the Langley Centennial Museum, Sumas Mountain, the Trethewey House Heritage Site, the Gur Sikh Temple, the Castle Fun Park, EcoDairy Science World, the Fort Langley National Historic Site and Chadsey Lake.
The city also has its fair share of activities as well suck as cycling adventures, the Fraser Glen and Ledgeview Golf Clubs, snow mobile rentals, horse riding, ice skating, hunting and fishing tours, skydiving, canoeing, cinemas and even gold panning adventures.
