The city of Auckland is located in the North Island of New Zealand. The estimated population of Auckland is around 1.4 million. It is the largest and most populated area in all of New Zealand. The population of Auckland alone, accounts for 32 percent of the country's population. Auckland is also home to the largest Polynesian population of any other city in the world.
Auckland's name in the native tongue of Maori is Tamaki Makaurau, and the converted version of the word Auckland is Akarana. The beautiful city of Auckland is situated between the low Hunua Ranges to the south east, the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea to the south west, and the Waitakere Ranges and some other smaller ranges to the west and north west.
Auckland is one of the truly blessed cities in the world, as it has two harbours on two completely different major bodies of water. There are bridges that span across both of these harbours. The Auckland Harbour Bridge provides access across from the west of the city crossing over the Waitemata Harbour. Then there is the Upper Harbour Bridge and the Mangere Bridge which span the upper parts of the both Manukau and Waitemata Harbours.
Auckland is rated as the third most liveable cities in the world.

During the day, but more so at night, Auckland's Viaduct Harbour comes alive. It is a world class marina and entertainment venue. You can simply stroll the boardwalk's and admire the many beautiful yachts and sea going vessels, or step it up in one of the many bars, restaurants or nightclubs located here.
